"Remember, those who claim to be the most tolerant are usually the ones that show the most intolerance" ~ screaming eagle2

That's because today's university campuses are filled with those who have been indoctrinated *specifically* by Marcusian Marxist professors:

In Herbert Marcuse's 1965 essay "Repressive Tolerance", Marcuse argues that genuine tolerance does not tolerate support for repression, since doing so ensures that marginalized voices will remain unheard. He characterizes tolerance of repressive speech as "inauthentic." Instead, he advocates a discriminating tolerance that does not allow repressive intolerance to be voiced.

My biggest concern is the new generation of authoritarians.

My biggest concern is the new generation of lemmings.

You really do have to grant people the opportunity prove they've changed. Unfortunately ol' Wendy there has not come full circle to a correct and proper view of free speech ~ she's still stuck in the Marxist idea that you have to satisfy Hegelian norms by creating a thesis/antithesis ~ that's why she starts her examples of school administrators squelching free speech with those that seem to her to be "conservative", and only then moving on to those who acted on behalf of "progressives".

Given time we can drag her out of this nonsense ~ after all, part of free speech is the idea that not all speech is equal, nor are there always or only two sides. Sometimes there really is only one side (how high is up?), and sometimes there are so many different opinions there are no sides at all.

At the moment we have to be satisfied with her discovery that the ACLU was something you couldn't really differentiate from a Stalinist regime ~ and for her that's been a really big journey.

The true bigots are the far left. They don't believe minorities - whether they're racial or by religious or sexual preference - can succeed without their assistance.

Patronisation is the most insidious form of bigotry. Sod the little bastards.

You may wish to reread everything you've just uttered and see the patronizing, holier-than-thou, God-I'm- wonderful-and-you-are-stupid example you have set so apparently with no effort at all.

Hegel? Mix him in with rule-based tautology and you have insufferable overbearance.

Bet no one has ever invited you to go icefishing.

I go ice fishing all the time, and scuba diving under the ice in fact, without a wetsuit too ~ don't you?

You are aware, of course, that my target, ol'Wendy, was a big dog at the ACLU who finally had a fallng out with them over "free speech".

You talk about some insufferable, holier than thou, Marxian sophisticates, and you've got 'em in spades with every ACLU chapter.

It's unfortunate that Wendy has not yet come over to the side of truth, light and the American way of life, so we might give her some time, or we might not, or we might decide to attack a fellow Freeper rather than chime in and complain about her using Hegelian BS techniques to muck up what might have been a pretty good campaign against the totalitarian attitudes overtaking the universities.

Whacha' think? Hmmmmmn?

I'm thinkin' you almost have a sense of humor.

And your'e a lot more likable when you are'nt being attacked...which you really were'nt being.

'Sides, If our opponents are all that "lame" why are we punching before the bell rings?

Seems as tho they're doin' themselves in without our help.
