A report like this? In SF? First, it's likely written by some lesbian who doesn't want the dating competition. Second, she wants to perpetuate the idea that when a man lays down with a consenting woman, that's RAPE.

I am sure that Boxer and Feinstein will look into this problem immediately.

Actually Diane Feinstein has been very good at helping women brought to the U.S. in such situations. She and Sam Brownback has sponsored legislation on the topic.

This is a real problem, not just in SF, but all over the world. How would you like it if your daughter or sister was imprisoned in a brothel? Where is the consent if the women is being held under threat of death. You should read up on this before making those kinds of comments:

Threat of death? When a Korean girl gets a credit card, goes nutso on Gucci bags, and then the company collects via the Korean version of the Yakuza, why do I have to cry my eyes out for her?
I used to live in Japan, and I know the actual profiles of many of the girls who go into "The Biz", and lemme tell ya, FEW of their ailing brothers are actually having to pay for expensive operations, OK?
You are being TAKEN IN.

Yet, San Francisco'ers routinely look down on other parts of the country as being uncaring and lacking compassion. Hey SF! Keep your own nose clean first.

Bill and Hillary took a million bucks, laundered through Charlie Trie, from Ng Lap Seng. He was a prostitution king, including underage girls, in Macau.

You Mi, a Korean college girl whose attempts to settle her credit card debt land her in the middle of a sex slavery ring in San Francisco's Tenderloin district. May's reporting shines the harsh light of truth on the reprehensible sex trade and the morally outrageous behavior of the pimps, johns and criminal networks that are getting rich by exploiting girls like You Mi.

Have to agree.
Her family was involved in the business before she left (it's mentioned in the article), I'm sure she knew exactly what she was getting into. Perhaps she was naive enough to believe she would be doing the same job her parents gave her (beverages and accomodations).
She should consider herself lucky she's attractive enough to make a living horizontally, because she'd never make it using her brains.

Second, she wants to perpetuate the idea that when a man lays down with a consenting woman, that's RAPE. Perhaps you are right about the reporter's sexual proclivities, although without something more than your idle speculation it is difficult to know. But suppose she is as you describe. Does that necessarily invalidate what she has written?
Second, she wants to perpetuate the idea that when a man lays down with a consenting woman, that's RAPE.
Maybe she does, maybe she doesn't. But it would seem that you want to perpetuate two ideas of your own: (1) Prostitution is nothing more than good, clean sex between consenting adults; (2) all prostitutes are willing volunteers, able to give consent. Both points are questionable.

This is really a strong comment on the sad state of the SF DA's office. No doubt they've known about this for decades, but chose to do nothing. Even Finespun, a former SF mayor, waited to become Senator before taking action on this.
Why don't they simply crack down and clean out this cesspool in the tenderloin? Why, indeed.
Look at this closely and you'll see the impact of the Democratic approach to law enforcement and security.
