Although few of them ever served in the military themselves, they've been able to turn war heroes into cowards. Just ask Democrat Max Cleland or even Republican John McCain - one lost his legs and an arm because of an enemy grenade, the other was a prisoner of war for more than five years - who were targeted by a well-organized campaign that started with Karl Rove in the White House and was spread by Limbaugh and his right-wing imitators on talk radio. And, of course, there was John Kerry, a decorated and wounded Vietnam War veteran, who was made out to be a wimp by a propaganda machine whose favorite candidate hadn't even shown up for National Guard drills.

I guess the writer "forgot" about the left insinuating that George Bush Sr. bailed out of his plane over cowardice, or that he attacked civilians. He must have also forgotten about the left insinuating that Bob Dole was hamming up his war injurines for sympathy.

one lost his legs and an arm because of an enemy grenade,

Max Clelland accidentally dropped the damned grenade and it went off. It was Clellands grenade. It was not during battle. Note: This is not criticism of Clelland. He was another casualty of war but it was not on the battle field and Max Clelland never said it was to his credit. I take issue with the author making up facts out of thin air. The author is either mistaken or lying. Take your pick. I pick the latter.

Here is an interesting entry in Wikipedia.
It kind of makes MJF look like a liar.

President Bush announced, on August 9, 2001 that federal funds, for the first time, would be made available for hESC research on currently existing stem cell lines; however, the Bush administration chose not to permit research on hESC cell lines not currently in existence, thus limiting federal funding to research in which "the life-and-death decision has already been made"[29]. The Bush Administration's guidelines differ from the Clinton Administration guidelines which did not distinguish between currently existing and not-yet-existing hESC. Both the Bush and Clinton guidelines agree that the federal government should not fund hESC research that directly destroys embryos.

Neither Congress nor any administration has ever prohibited private funding of embryonic research. Also, public and private funding of adult stem cell research has no restriction whatsoever.

(bolding is mine)

Uh, Dave, Limbaugh is deaf.

I'm sure Rush would eagerly love to be able to swig a little snake oil to be able to genuinely hear again.

Here is an old article from April 23rd, 2002 which shows the same partisan bias from MJF back then.

Spinning Stem Cells A damning reporting pattern.
By Wesley J. Smith

Yet as loudly as Fox and Kinsley promote ESCR in the media or before legislative committees, both have remained strangely silent about the most remarkable Parkinson's stem-cell experiment yet attempted: one in which researchers treated Parkinson's with the patient's own adult stem cells.

Fox can hardly claim ignorance about ASC research.

Cleland wasn't wounded by an enemy grenade. And if you want to see a real injustice at work, Cleland didn't get a Purple Heart for his lost limbs (not due to enemy fire) while Kerry got one for his own self-inflicted wound.

Ann must be chuckling. She has made the point that libs make spokesmen out of people who they think cannot be attacked. Sorry, you step in the arena, you are fair game.

Okay, I say ENOUGH. Enough trashing Rush. He's a great guy and I love listening to him at work.

Well .. I'm sorry, but I heard the program and Rush has nothing to be ashamed of - nothing at all.

I totally understood where Rush was coming from. I had seen Fox's display of his disease, but for those who hadn't, it's very difficult to watch and it does take a few minutes to adjust. I'm sure Rush was shocked to see him so out of control since his only contact had been seeing Fox on Boston Legal - where Fox does not show those types of symptoms.

But .. now that it's been exposed that Fox has already said he purposefully does not take his medication - and currently that he takes "too much medication". I personally believe Fox knew exactly what he was doing.

I think it's difficult to discover some of these people we admire in showbiz could be so LIBERAL.

Illness or not .. if you enter the political arena .. you have no right to demand sanctuary from accountability. Like Ann Coulter taught us .. the left uses these people as "unasailable" because of an illness .. but no more.

You're undoubtedly familiar with his latest outrageousness - claiming that Michael J. Fox was really faking those Parkinson's disease palsied shakes when he cut campaign ads for candidates...to me the most disgusting human beings are those who lie about what others have said and then self-righteously demonize them as disgusting human beings - Limbaugh did not say Fox was faking - he said he either had not taken his medication or was acting to accentuate his symptoms to gain pity - this is now the 'rats favorite strongarm tactic - scream that's unfair and unkind to challenge anything some unfortunate says because it's just not nice - Limbaugh is courageous to stand up to such emotional extortion......

The MSM is tantruming because we refuse to stop debating the issues despite the fact that they are, once again, using a victim as a human shield for their agenda. This used to work so well for them in the '70s, '80's and some of the '90's. They thought Michael J. Fox would insulate them from having their lie exposed. It did not and it was Rush who refuted, no NUKED the lie. That is why they are attacking him.

As he said on his show today, by attacking him, they really expose themselves. Not only that, they fall into a rather nice trap. People will read/hear in the MSM about Rush and what he allegedly said or did. Naturally, many will want to tune in to hear what Rush has to say. Oh, at first they will tune in thinking they know the story, thinking that it will confirm everything they heard in the MSM. But an appreciable amount of people end up listening and getting the other side of the story. Rush ends up with a bigger audience and the New Media further erodes the MSM monopoly by destroying the MSM's credibility.

Rush has done a better job of firing up the base than any Republican could hope to. With all the MSM and Local drive by media saying Rush said Fox is faking it, when that is a lie. He has turned the light on the Media, they are liars.

Limbaugh, with his audience of like-minded flame-throwers, is a key player in the well-organized cabal that uses innuendo and, more times than not, outright lies to savage anyone who dares to disagree with the right-wingers who long ago took the Republican Party hostage.

Who exactly is the flame thrower, Mr. Zweifel? Much of your writing in the article comes across as hateful. I listen to Rush's show all the time. Rarely if ever do Rush and his conservative callers act like flame throwers or outright lie. Quite to the contrary, the discussions tend to be civil and of sound reason, usually with strong supporting evidence presented.

You have to hand it to them - they're very clever.

It is not a coincidence. A solid education, good reasoning skills, and strong moral values all add up to 'clever'.

Although few of them ever served in the military themselves, they've been able to turn war heroes into cowards.

Really? Who is 'them'? Conservatives? Republicans? Got proof? Are you claiming that liberals constitute most of the armed services? Who stated that John McCain is a coward? Do not just throw out unsubstantiated claims. I want names and dates. Are you confusing your 'coward' assertion with conservatives who disagree with some of John McCain's current political positions? Might you be using the term 'coward' as a form of political grandstanding shortly before a major election?

Rush was right. Fox is an admitted liar, and has no credibility on this issue. I don't give a damn about his ailment. It isn't a license to inject himself into serious political debate without being called out as a liar.
