when they decide to work together on a project they are formidable.

We're talking about the FRENCH remember. Work + French = oxymoron

Hasen't happened since Charles Martel; maybe one of his descendants will rise to the occasion.

It's out of control and the Frogs are responsible for allowing no-go areas.

In spite of what all is said about the French, when they decide to work together on a project they are formidable.

They have had some formidable weapons at their disposal in the past, but they have been caught flat footed many times. Their tanks were actually better made then the German tanks at the beginning of WWII, but they got stuck far north of Paris and were out maneuvered. In the beginning of their hundred year war with England, they had the best Knights in the world, but they were cut to pieces by the Welsh Long Bowmen. Perhaps the French rely on Symbolism too much and get caught up in the Substance. What good is all their nuclear weapons when they have allowed their worse enemy into their own city gates ?

It won't take 100 years, and it's not just France.

Check this out, from the AP story:

Many blame Sarkozy, a leading contender on the right, for fueling the riots with his hard-line statements about youths in the projects.

Our own media thinks this is about discrimination against Muslims, and not Jihad.

Are the French EVER going to wise up and throw the Islamofascists out or just start shooting them?

Neither.

Ahem.

We pulled their chesnuts out of the fire in 1918 and 1941.

NO MORE.

This time the francopunks must face their destiny all alone.

I really can't see much difference between a France populated by American-hating-Frenchies and a France where the Frenchies have been wiped-out by American-hating-Arabs.

The AC-130 gunship is a magnificent and underutilized piece of military hardware. It could identify and eliminate roving gangs of arsonists with virtually minimal impact on surrounding innocents in many scenarios.

Hi RightWhale-

"...I have met some Frenchmen who are just a hairs breadth from going back into WW II fighting mode a la Underground. These youths wouldn't want to trigger those men into that mode..."

Unfortunately these same men are now 88 years of age and use bifocals and a walker to get around.

AC-130 gunship

I've never seen one in real life, just that targeting camera video of one in action that was released a few years ago.

Watched it over and over again. Gave me a warm fuzzy.

Of course, if I was ever on the receiving end of one, I'd defecate-on-demand, just before disapearing in a puff of smoke. It's a fecalator fer sure.

Come to think of it, flying one over a riot crowd and popping off a half second burst into the ground would disperse them like roaches when the lights come on.

The sound of an A-10 making a low pass, firing blanks at an airshow is one of the coolest (or most frightening) sounds I've ever heard. I imagine either one of the AC-130 gunships sounds about the same.

Hi benjaminjjones-

Bear in mind those are two 40mm cannons coupled with a single, massive 105mm cannon bristling from the side! What an incredible piece of firepower to behold.

They feature sophisticated sensor, navigation and fire control systems to provide surgical firepower or area saturation during extended loiter periods, at night and in adverse weather. The sensor suite consists of a television sensor, infrared sensor and radar. These sensors allow the gunship to visually or electronically identify friendly ground forces and targets any place, any time.

The AC-130U employs synthetic apertures strike radar for long-range target detection and identification. The gunship's navigational devices include the inertial navigation systems and global positioning system. The AC-130U employs the latest technologies and can attack two targets simultaneously.

The distinction between the French and individual Frenchmen is like night and day. Frenchmen are trapped in a political system that they created, true, but should the political system take a clear position on anything such as resolving the 'youth problem,' Frenchmen will go to work with energy and effectiveness.

Their fathers and grandfathers sure are and they hold some unshakeable opinions, but the current generation is cut from the same cloth. It is easier to see them once one is outside Paris, the farther the better. They will take care of business.

When I visited England 2 years ago, the locals told me London is really not England. After visiting for awhile it was clear that London was a Cosmopolitan European town. The same could probably be said of Paris. And of course one should not judge America by Los Angeles and New York. Both are Cosmopolitan towns, otherwise known as Progressive City States.
