LOL. Maybe you're right. But if the idea is to get Muslims to resort to democracy to change their lot rather than burning cars, the tendency to go to their elected representatives should be encouraged. France has done a stunningly poor job in assimilating these immigrants. Ther is a reason why Muslims here in the U.S. aren't causing this sort of civil violence.

I understand the point you are making, Zack, and I agree that mainstreaming immigrants is desirable, but I DO believe that Muslims are different than most other immigrants. I don't believe they are here to become Americans, I believe that they are here to build enough of a base to take over. It's an issue called "achieving a critical mass" (apologies to Albert Einstien).

And there's a big difference between Americans and French people. The French people's spirit is broken, and they are facing a higher percentage of Muslims in their populace than we are.

Muslims "yutes" running wild through the neighborhoods torching cars would result in immediate backlash by the average American.

Our government has been doing their best to downplay the true violent nature of Imperialistic Islam. We Americans are NOT buying those "religion of peace" weasel-words, even though they come from a guy we support (Bush).

But I predict that an American version of this "intifada" would be the final straw, and the popular backlash would be sudden, unorganized and purely organic.

In other words, I'm pretty sure that any rampaging Muslims torching cars in my neighborhood would be shot dead in the street, there would be nothing the authorities could do to control it (not that they'd really want to control it, at a local level.) The cops can't be everywhere at once, and they know it is the duty of the citizenry to rise to such occasions.

That's why we haven't had any of the same sort of problems as the French, not because we've done such a great job integrating Muslims into our culture.
