I can give an absolutely sincere speech expressing my compassion and concern for liberal Democrats to a degree to make you think I was a lifelong Democrat who felt every person should be given 40 acres and an SUV whether (s)he studied, worked or made a real effort to justify such a gift and cause you to believe that I believed that what I was saying was the truth. Lots of people are adept at that these days.

Orwell was a strange guy, but I suppose if I saw the dark aspects of the future with the clarity HE did, I would be pretty strange as well.
WHAT is it with the intellectual types? For supposedly intelligent people,they cannot see past their noses. They always have to end up depending on the very people they despise and have contempt for to save their sorry asses from being rounded up, thrown in a gulag, shot or tortured and killed.
They ALL need to read Hayek's "Road to Serfdom", written in 1942, if my memory serves me correctly. These things are related to each other.

Intellectuals (or in the case of liberals, pseudo-intellectuals) never think bad things can happen to them. They tend to badly overestimate their own value to tyrants and kings.
You're correct.
We all surely understand the terrorists have been infiltrating this country since probably the early 90's. They have assimilated into the American culture.
They merely wait for the GO signal.
The next wave of attacks, IMHO, will be around 100 or so splinter cells of 4-5 man teams of these imbedded terrorists striking "soft targets" all over this country on a given day. Probably simultaneously at a given hour.
Think about it. Two men riding in a car sniping people in the Wash DC/VA/MD corridor almost shut down the entire eastern seaboard for three weeks back in October 2002.
Imagine the absolute chaos of 100 teams of Islamic jihadists walking into child care centers, malls, schools, restaurants, etc. and just gunning down people without restraint. Maybe 2 teams per state.
So the terror would not just be the blue cities, the huge population centers but maybe small flyover places like Meridian, MS; Boise, ID; and Tulsa, OK.
The lesson would be clear - NO ONE IS SAFE.
The economy would nose dive big time because no one would go out in public.
Imagine the pent up rage of survivors, widows, and widowers. Of friends and co-workers. Of parents having to bury their elementary school age children after an attack on a school.
ALL BETS ARE OFF, indeed.
People would have to vent and young men in particular would be brutal in their vigilantism. I would almost feel sorry for those moderate Muslims in this country that had no part in the attacks. Truly NO ONE WOULD BE SAFE.
The sad truth is Americans need hundreds of thousands dead before they will set aside partisanship. I am not sure the Democrats would ever set aside partisanship to defend America.
Not to be scary or drama queen-ish, but if the dems get in, we'll most likely lose the war against Islamic fascists. It'll take some years for the reality to play out, but the date - the beginning of the end - will be traced back to this election...
It's a tradeoff. Vote Republican and get no cure for whatever Michael J Fox has, or vote Democrat and get nuked.
