I've known actual Communists and people who have known actual German Nazis. They were all nice people (the Communists and the Nazis.) And yet, at the time, we didn't hesitate to consider all these nice people, all these people with families and gardens and cute children and kitties, we didn't hesitate to regard them as enemies. No multi-culti, no relativism, no all-people-are-the-same nonsense. If the enemy this time is Islamism and not Islam itself, the POTUS, should at least come out and say it, and take a position of no nicey-nicey with Islam until it takes care of Islamism. As it is, we are playing a defensive and hopeful (I'd say hopeless) game, of please, please, don't hurt us. They will.
I agree about picking sides, but just be sure you know what the "sides" are. Good, innocent, American Japanese were interred because of extreme paranoia. Shall we repeat that shameful bit of history now? I think not. I'm not about to make an enemy of a friend by becoming as evil as our enemies are.
It's useless to argue. They've bought into the "Bush is an idiot" mantra. They believe 98% of 1.2 Billion people want to personally kill or convert all non-Muslims. I doubt they know any Malaysians, Bangladeshis or Turks -- unlike me -- but they can take the actions of a few radicals and on that basis hate over a billion people. Good luck reasoning with people who have lost their heads.
I don't fault him for honoring individual Muslims for their achievements. I fault him for constantly going out of his way to honor Islam as some kind of great religion. It is no such thing, from its origins to the present day.
I would be distressed by placing Muslims into internment but not ashamed. It was Islam who slit the throats of Jewish journalists. It was Islam who killed 2000+ of our American defenders. It is Islam who wants to make the world submit to the influence of an ancient murderer. They are calling the shots, not us. They are burning our flag, calling for our deaths by hideous means. I don't make this stuff up.

I don't feel he has gone "out of his way" to honor our Muslim friends. I don't agree with some beliefs held by some of our Christian friends either but I do not ignore nor insult them either. Have a nice evening. :)

Sorry to correct you, but I really feel I should. It wasn't Muslims who killed innocent Americans and others worldwide, it was Muslim EXTREMISTS. There is a difference. I would certainly be ashamed of putting good Muslims into internment camps just as I would have been ashamed of allowing hate and paranoia to bring about the internment of innocent Japanese families. We can, and should, learn from history. I was raised to know right from wrong, and I'm too old to change that now. Thank God. :)

He knows he commands enough firepower to grind them all into dust, so why not be magnanomous toward those who are American first, and worthy of respect?
