I live in California and have not see a single negative ad by Arnold - I have seen Angelides go negative Bush bashing but Arnold is so far ahead in the polls he doesn't need to place any ad's.

Politics is a nasty business sometimes, and Phil is the victim of negative ads. However, Democrats do the same darn thing. Poor Phil, we're supposed to feel sorry for him? A Democratic nominee in a Democratic leaning state is behind in the polls and he's whining about the negative ads?
Unbelievable..........

Have you all seen Angelides latest ad? It looks like he's running against Richard Nixon!!!
It starts with a narrator saying how Angelides was inspired by a poster as a boy, and they show a boy looking at a "Dump Nixon" poster on a bulletin board. Then some '60s Summer of Love music starts playing in the background.
Huh?!? Is this supposed to make me long for the Good Ol' Watergate days?

Truth be told, if Angelides weren't such a dweeby looking guy, he might stand a chance. This is the head of the Chess Club going up against the star quarterback for Homecoming King.

Democrat Phil Angelides blamed his struggling campaign for governor on a "record amount of negative ads" put out by Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in an interview Monday with The Chronicle editorial board. Yeah...'cause that Angelides fella is one dynamic character, y'know!

No, I just said Summer of Love because I couldn't remember the name of the song. It was a Dump Nixon poster. The music could have been early '70s.

I was thinking the same thing. I also live in CA and I see Angelides ads linking gov S. and pres Bush like it's a bad thing. I have seen NO negative Arnold ads, or heard any on the radio. Sounds like Phil is whining....

The music could have been early '70s.LOL...OK. I haven't seen the ad, but I can imagine some kid looking at a "Dump Nixon" poster, and having a song by ABBA swell in the background.

Well, Phil, now you know how it feels to be a Republican statewide candidate in California. They're usually the ones who get buried in negative attack ads that they don't have the money to counter adequately. I hope you lose by 15, punk. You deserve to lose by 20.

He's for higher taxes and bigger spending and he blames Arnold for letting the voters know about it?? Tsk, tsk, tsk! The funny part of Angelides' whine is he spent the interview detailing all his new taxing and spending plans! Give the voters some credit, Phil; they weren't born stupid and did not fall out of the back of a pickup truck. They know you want to pick their wallets and increase state spending up the wazoo. There's nothing negative about it and its YOUR liberal philosophy. Too liberal even for some Democrats in California to stomach.

All those Arnold ads linking Arnold to the president made me wonder who Phil was running against, Arnold or President Bush.
I have yet to see an Angelides saying what he plans to do if he's elected.

Just for you, I had to go look it up (well, for me, too, so I could post with accuracy).
Anyway, the song was a re-recording of "Let Your Love Flow" by the Bellamy Brothers, originally recorded in 1976. So, there is still a time shift, just the other way. ;-)
This article says that the group has offered to perform the song for Schwarzenegger, because they're mad at the Angelides campaign's unauthorized use the song!
