"...still apples to oranges, but before we were comparing grapes to grapefruit, so it's a little better:"

Point taken on Fatal Accidents vs Fatalities, but my point was that, as too many here and elsewhere go to the bottom line 'body count', the sheer numbers don't support a "way too dangerous" position.

Nor, Sam, did I say that GA was less dangerous than driving.... Simply that, from a statistical perspective, the numbers don't support the hysteria regarding this tragic accident.

I'm still more worried about the drive to the airport than actually flying...

There are a few Freepers that are against "affluence..."

The word is e-n-v-y :)

I've got to get back to work to earn more of that "affluence"....

I just happened to hear on a sports talk radio show that APPARENTLY this Cory was sometimes a BIT of a fool as the pilot of a plane............... it was said by a friend he took up in the air once that he liked to do silly things with the aircraft.

I remember an early eye witness yesterday who strongly DENIED that it was a helicopter that crashed. She was very sure about what she saw and it was that there was a stunt that was going on before the aircraft disappeared behind a building and away from her view.

Now, maybe it was a radical manuver to avoid the building ... but there are reports of the plane doing semi-acrobatic moves before the crash.

I do not know what happened yesterday with the crash. Some of those "odd" movements by the plane yesterday may have been done in desperation or because of no control.

The radio show speakers earlier were people who were in a plane with this guy previously and suggested that he was not totally serious at times as a pilot.

I really don't have any idea what is true. I do suppose, however, that he may have been less than serious at times as a pilot. That is not good.

a correct way of looking at transportation deaths is to compare fair paying airline fatalities with professional fair paying long distance buses.

Bus wins

On that we agree. Yet, I love to fly...no matter what type of aircraft...and am willing to risk the trip to the airport.
