Idéologie has taken over

Clearly in this country there are instances where a person could be murdered and this crime not be covered by state law.

The only case that I'm aware of is if the crime takes place on a Federal installation or territory over which no state has jurisdiction. In that case, I have no problem with a federal law and federal prosectution. On the other hand, I believe in the 10th Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Stretching the 5th to defend Federal laws about abortion seem to me to be changing the meaning of the Constitution. We'll see when the South Dakota case comes to the SCOTUS.

Temper, Temper, Johnnie. Can't you accept that there are some within the party who don't want more, bigger government, more intrusion into our lives and economy, more deficit spending? So far, that's what Bush and the 109th have been giving us. I'm simply trying to point out to the FR out there that we're losing votes from some of our base because we're abandoning our principles. If the party can't accept that criticism, especially from inside itself, then there's something even worse wrong.

It would be easy for me to take my vote and stay home (and sign off of FR), but I won't! But what's more, I think it's my duty to point out to the Republican powers that they aren't living up to their campaign promises.
