At which point, the economy will "go South", and the Democrats will then lose the next election.

Which is exactly what Rush Limbaugh predicted when Clinton won in '92. In fact, he bet anyone who would take him up on it a million dollars that this would happen. Fortunately for his bank account, no one took him up on it. No one could have anticipated the Republican victories of '94 and the fact that Clinton would have the fear of God put in him economically by those victories.

Yeah; if Mexico's so damned good why are so many people rushing to get north of the border. (tells me something)

Despite his protestations to the contrary, Imnotalib possessed a very liberal view of the economy and is no longer with us.

The subtext of this story is more subtle -- which is countries may be obsolete when it comes to measuring innovation and productivity.

Does it matter if it's a German film doing drug research in the U.S. or an American firm assembling electronics in Mexico?

The folks hurt are those with low level skill sets of the type that hold near zero value in the world economy.

“Switzerland, Finland and Sweden are the world’s most competitive economies”

Yeah, like business are stepping all over each other to do business with them. I never did like the varying measurements from country to country that the WEF uses. Hell, even the top 10 countries GDP combined on that list don’t come close to ours. However, there are some countries in that list that do know how to run their economy and the US should, can and does do business with.

This does not mean I indorse neither the WEF nor their GCI measurements. For example; they see things quit differently than we do, like foreign aid. To them the only measurement of foreign aid should be what the government gives, does and accomplishes economically or as charity to other countries. To them the only measurement to use as foreign aid is what the government takes from the populist and redistributes to foreign countries.

We see things a little different. We allow individuals to keep their own money and give as they see fit. This is one reason why the U.S. gives more than all others combined, AS WELL AS A LAGER PERCENTAGE OF OUR GDP.

WHAT??? Yes that right. Most of these organizations out of Switzerland and France like the WEF claim that they give more as a percentage of GDP but in reality they don’t. They only count what the government does. As a mater of fact, all other governments combined (including the US government in that figure) does not match what the US citizens give voluntarily.

Yeah, France is a great place to do business. Just don't hire anybody that you're not willing to employ until they retire. Oh, and don't park your business vehicles on the street because "youths" will firebomb them pretty much any night of the week (including Friday).

Give us a break with the sob story. Working poor with two children in college needs deductions. Are we talking about the $70,000/an folks who borrow money at 2% after klids graduate? Poor baby.Poor families get Pell Grants.

No, talking about people paying 6.8% while the kids are in school. That's 3.4 TIMES your citation of 2%.

Get your facts straight before you dispute them.

The Wall Street Journal totally debunked this sham report shortly after it first came out. The "report" is a joke.
