Oh, waaah. You don't see Irish people complaining about Notre Dame, do you? Whiny fools.
To: MassRepublicanFlyersFan
They could just change the spelling to "Fighting Sue" and the NCAA couldn't do a thing about it. :-)

And how can a school founded by French Monks call themselves the Fighting Irish? Is it because The Fighting French would be laughable? Are they signaling for a touchdown or are they surrendering?

The NCAA has banned the use of some American Indian nicknames and logo in postseason tournaments, saying they are hostile to Native Americans. Huh?
They're only "hostile" in postseason tournaments?

Don't you find it a little funny that the NCAA based in Indiappolis, Indianna, has a problem with indian names? I wish they would enforce minimum academic standards among the players and not worry about BS like the names of teams. Who elected them king?

Think of it. The ref signals a PAT or Field Goal and the Yell Leaders wave a white flag and "assume the position!"
Its Texas OU Weekend here in Dallas.Wee Hah!
Since the Sooners "broke the law by crossing the line before the time of the official stampede, might they be considered Illegal Immigrants?"
Boomer Sooner! Hook 'em Horns!"
NCAA. Go to your Room!

Hmmm-m-m-m, N.D. is the "Peace Garden State" right? Well, what about "The Fighting Pacifists"?

Isn't that similar to the people who had issues with the city seal of Los Angeles because it has a cross in it?

I remember reading the Cincinnati Reds changed their nickname for a few years because they didn't want to be affiliated with the Communist Red Menace at the time.

My high school changed the mascot from an Indian to a Bengal. What crap! We were called Indians to honor the Native American population that tribed where the school now stands.
