I haven't had time to read all of your links, but those I've looked at seem to still be concerned with rates.

Your first link to the Cato article re Mellon is interesting. He lowered the top income tax rate from 77% to 25%. Our top rate, today isn't anything close to 77%.

Mellon believed strongly in balanced budgets, reducing the total debt and its concomitant interest. To this end, he created a PLAN and managed to reduce the debt by a third. I doubt he would support the FairTaxers backdoor approach to fiscal responsibility. (backdoor approaches frequently backfire)

Mellon was more than a one trick pony. He was pragmatic and not adverse to raising taxes when he felt the circumstances dire enough to warrant an increase, in fact he favored a tax increase over a debt increase.

Mellon did support a NST. That idea lost him the broad support of Republicans.

You...were not forced to click on this post....

I was responding to a post pinging me. You weren't.

Can you say "hypocrisy"?

I was pinged, twice actually (go HR25!) to this article. I understand (as some don't) that just being pinged doesn't mean I have to read the pinged article...the point being: no gun to my head or yours. I didn't realize that we are only allowed to respond to posts that we have been pinged to....hmmm

I read the article and the posts b/c I am interested in The Fair Tax and I don't find such articles to be "spam"

hypocrisy: "I don't think that word means what you think it means."

The fact that I was not pinged to your post has nothing to do with anything. Unless you are trying to say that only people who you ping are allowed to post to you? Wow, these boards would be pretty dead if that were the norm. I guess the only one who had the "right" to post to you is the person you pinged in post number 14. And I'm sure that you only post to people who post to you; you never respond to someone's post who didn't ping you....where again is the hypocrisy?

You best start reprimanding b/c I see people posting all over the place to people who didn't first ping them! (oh the horrors)

Except your hypocrisy.

My post was a reply to a ping, your attack on me was not.

Good luck getting your NRST entitlement passed into law.

isn't it telling the behaviour we see from anti?

nothing about the nrst - nothing at all.

it's all about whether someone was pinged or not and namecalling.

predictable. Same things happened when women got the vote, when civil rights passed, when we put men on the moon, and even when the Red Sox won.

Expect it. He's a loser on the losing side and he's having a tantrum. And since he wasn't pinged to this, according to him he cannot respond - unless he wants to admit to being a hypocrite.

Yes. It gets old fast. I've come to the conclusion that some people are just not educable. or don't want to be.
