I was okay...not really memorable, but...I do tend to try to get enjoyment out of nearly any movie I watch, one way or another. I paid a lot of attention to Gary Cooper, just to see if he could display his skills in this movie.

I think my favorite older movie is the Manchurian Candidate, give that a try

I do need to make a confession, though.

I am one of those people who MUST see a movie first, then read the book second. That is the only way I can really enjoy a movie.

When I read, I tend to visualize very strongly the characters and form mental images of them. It makes enjoying a film very tough. However, I love seeing a movie and then reading the book, especially if the movie is well cast. Then, the book really fills out the characters for me, and I visualize the actors I saw in the movie.

I had read The Fountainhead four times before I saw the movie, so...

I liked the original Manchurian Candidate, that was pretty good, although there were a few scenes that you see that seem a little dated today, like the part where they have the big pictures of Mao and Stalin behind the brainwashing committe or whatever it was. But I did like it. The recent one was kind of...eh...

My absolute favorite older movie is "The Best Years of Our Lives"...a TIMELESS story, just as relevant today as it was in 1946 when it won the Oscar for Best Picture.

I have the movie on video - but this reminds me that I must get the DVD.

Atlas Shrugged

is in the making - Angelina Jolie is purportedly going to play Dagney (NO! PLEASE!) - I hope they don't slaughter the book...I don't even see how it could be a movie - unless an incredibly long one. I would think, to be done right, it wold have to be a mini-series.

And if not, then don't do it at all...

Truly amazing how Angela Lansbury does an impressive performance of Hillary Clinton - before Bill was even governor!

Agreed. I enjoy most of Denzel Washington's movies but The Manchurian Candidate is one of those movies you just can't remake. It is like remaking "Citizen Kane" or "the Godfather." The remake will not be as good.

I thouroughly enjoyed Glory, Remember the Titans, Man on Fire and (I think I am alone in this) Fallen.
