basic palaeontology have always noted that the preservation of fossil almost *require* some rapid catastrophic event to quickly cover up and therefore preserve the carcass But falling into a puddle of mud works just as well.

I suppose braided streams only occur when the water is able to cut through the soil because nothing holds it together or when it is rushing through with such force it simply uproots all vegetation in its way.My understanding of such things is that a Braided stream is a sign of a depositing stream. The braided pattern is independant of vegetation. Alluvial fans in the west have braided stream beds, these occour where the run-off reaches soil (as opposed to rock) and can seep in reducing the volume of the flow and the carrying capacity of the stream. Most of the rivers crossing the great plains once had braided streams.

The AiG account is rubbish. Filled with "could have", "there is the possibility", "suggests that", "would have been well-placed to survive", and strawman arguments.
"The sceptics caricature that Noah had fish tanks on the ark is wrong." What skeptic ever said that?? This sentence is a caricature of AiG itself!
There is absolutely nothing on the site that is in the Bible. Nothing at all. It is all pure speculation and wild apologetic guessing.

Flood myths arising independently of each other indicate a common ancestor.... These are stories passed down by tradition which ring startlingly true to the original account of the Bible. This argument appears logically inconsistent. If everyone except Noah's family was killed and their societies destroyed, why would there be any accounts anywhere (except maybe near Mt Arat)? There could not possibly have been survivors to tell such tales.
Obviously, then, there were societies who had their own flood traditions from local events. The Genesis account of a global flood is thus disproved.

Re plants surviving a global flood and the AiG site: "Understand, it is quite likely you will not agree with this explanation.... You stated that they have never explained it, and I'm showing that statement is incorrect." Stringing words together that "this could have happened", there is a possibility that", etc. on this site does not in any way, shape or form constitute an "explanation".
I have an equivalent "explanation" for gravity. It is "possible" that angels and cherubim are floating around and keep pushing us back so we do not float away from earth. And that maybe pixies "could be" holding up airplanes in flight, so there is no need of any of this "naturalistic empiricism" to pollute children's minds.

Your alternative is exactly what? I'm afraid that isn't a terribly compelling line of reason. Actually, this is the same line of "reasoning" used by creationists and IDiots. They spend all their time attacking evolution "thinking" that if they "disprove evolution", then, obviously, their god is the right one.
A false dichotomy if ever there was one.
The IDiots at Discovery Institute are notorious for this. And for speaking out of both sides of their mouths.

Mark Twain visited Hawaii. He wrote, "The smell of sulphur is strong, but not unpleasant for us sinners."
Of course, there was a perfectly good god called Pele who "explained" all things for those believers.

Explain to us how there were survivors of "the Flood" who could write such accounts.

That notion had no Biblical support, unlike Noah and the Flood. Do they have Koranic support? Egyptian historical support? Chinese support?
It is extremely humorous to see the posts arguing that "other societies have a flood myth and this proves Genesis". And then every evidence against the literal account is dismissed as "not in the Bible."
It really is funny.

Oh, ye of little faith. Kangaroos can quickly jump out of the water to avoid hungry orcas.
And to mimic the AiG site: It may be, it is possible that, the kangaroos were carried on faerie wings to their new home.

Creation Science predicts that evidence of a monumental water catastrophe will be found. And such evidence has not been found.
It is like the "invisible unicorn in your garden" argument. You insist on believing, but the evidence is lacking.

That the Canyon wanders rather significantly is indicitave of the different materials present, in that some materials erode in water faster than others. If the channel was always the lowest point, the water would have stayed in the channel. It does stay in the channel, which is a record of the meandering course of the river. Cf. Horsehoe Canyon in Utah:

I'm a sucker for a pdf, but I don't see any indication in this paper that the "western badlands" were formed by a flood. This paper recounts the evidence for a huge flood caused by spillage from Lake Bonneville into the Snake River. The only topography I could identify was an "upland channel" along the Snake River. ( The overlayed line is 1 mile :)
There is some interesting topography to the southeast of this where the flood entered the Snake River valley, but I believe it is due to subsequent erosion of the deposited material.
"badlands" are typically "dissected terrain," that is an eroded plateau. The badlands of Badlands National Park in South Dakota are an eroded highland between two rivers. Here's a sample, again with a 1 mile reference line:

imagine how kangaroos made it to Australia after the flood "After the flood" is a speculation based on conjectures not in evidence.
"Imagine" is a nifty choice of words. We can imagine all manner of things. I have a good imagination. I imagine that the skygod Zeus got really pissed off and decided to kill all the people he created, just to show them who was boss.
He could have done this by {poof}, but instead He decided on {poof} a flood. Good ole Zeus--he was very particular to teach a moral lesson. He liked Noah for some odd reason. But Zeus, who used to have a soft spot in his heart for babies, killed them all. Zeus was prevailed upon by sinners--mostly mothers--and Zeus, being Zeus, could have spared all the innocent babies. He might even have opposed abortion. But Zeus, being Zeus, killed them all. Killed their souls. Drowned everybody except ole Noah.
There is a great moral teaching in this story.
