So, most of the articles that are put up on FR are MSM articles that are posted for this forum to pick apart, discuss and compare notes. That is what FR is about. This is NOT a place where we only print the "good" articles we agree with.

It is also not a place where we debate liberals. They are not welcome here. This is our forum to discuss conservative views (and Country Club Republican views and bashing of Buchanan).

Don't know where you got the notion is was any different than as I have explained it. Someone else jump in here if you think I don't have it correct.

Not unless you have to sell into the down market.

Look into the posting history of the person who posted this thread. You just don't "get it", or you don't want to.

Yes, you are wrong.

The gold bull has made fools out of your crowd for the last five years, and it will continue to make fools out of you in the years to come.

I didn't sell gold short, so the gold bull has not made a fool of me. Sorry.

The bulls have been winning for the last five years, and will continue to win for years to come.

Looks like it took 5 years for gold to go from about $270 to about $595 on Friday. That's a little more than 17% return annually. Decent, but not unheard of.

Your vehemence and hatred of gold is so extreme that you have in effect made it your god

We don't hate gold, we just laugh at people who day trade gold (2.5%-4.5% spread) and pay a ridiculous commission (1%-2%) and 9.9% margin rate for the privilege. Did I mention the storage fees you pay?

a rapidly appreciating form of (honest) money.

LOL!

Don't forget the mailbox full of free-money no-interest credit cards he uses to fuel his vast auric empire.

What is all this shit? 10yr rates have barely budged upward in 2 years. And the Fed only increased rates 3.5%. How could someone be paying 13%? I think some mortgage brokers need to be doing jail time.

The rate was based on LIBOR. The article says it could adjust every month, so probably the 1 month LIBOR. They were morons to get a mortgage that adjusted more than once a year. It was probably LIBOR plus 5%.

The Fed increased rates from 1% to 5.25%.

He heard it was better to trade with other people's money. He forgot that when he signed the check, it became his money.

Home buyers generally do not get attorneys in California, unless and until something goes wrong. The way the system is set up, there is a huge potential for conflicts of interest.

Thanks

...and these folks did not have anyone watching out for their interests.

The bottom line is many people live beyond their means. Period.

On a $4000/month income they took out a $240,000 legbreaker-shyster loan with variable interest. Sure hope he enjoyed lying in that hammock.

People take responsibility for their own finances. Just because the government has profligate spending habits does not translate into John and Jane Doe blowing all their money. It is a specious argument.

It may happen with some people, but those people are a minority and are probably going to do that whether their government is miserly or wasteful.

Churchillbluff, your views on the mental capability and morality of your fellow man are clear enough in your postings. It is not surprising that you would take the view that people have no self control and are incapable of standing on their own two feet.

That is not conservatism, that is liberalism.

My views on "the mental capability and morality of [my] fellow man" are informed by some factual observations: Nearly half the people who went to polls last time voted for Kerry. Roughly half voted for Al Gore in 00; a plurality voted for Clinton in 92 and 96. You can boast of high esteem for the average person's intellect all you want, but facts like those shout you down.

Hardly. Because people voted for Gore or Kerry hardly makes them inferior to an elitist like you. If anything, they are exactly like you at the very least.

It makes them inferior to me in their ability to reason and make sound moral and political judgments, you bet it does. And it doesn't make me an "elitist" to point that out. Anyone - just someone who knows that anyone who voted for Bill Clinton - more so if he or she did so twice - has shown an inferiority, when it comes to powers of judgment.

Your powers of reasoning are no better than theirs, if you make the assertion that because the government overspends, then individuals are going to overspend.

The only kind of person not lacking reason who would make that kind of statement has never had to support a household or children.

LOL!

YOU are talking about personnal reasoning abilities and judgement? The person who is constantly shilling the talking points of Michael Moore, Charlier Rangle and every other Bush hating left wing kook out there.

Pardon me while I step outside a check for pigs in the landing pattern.

No! I am not wrong and I am not petulent. That may indeed be the case. But, they are free to put up those articles. I'll have a look to see how much discussion each has generated and the quality of that discussion.

Yes, I am not wrong! :)
