***Good point, but the truth is, they [Jews] killed Jesus. Can we expect them to hate us less? ***
I'm a Christian and that is the MOST disgusting thing I've ever read on FR.
You said "his followers were Jews."
WRONG. Jesus' followers were Jews and non-Jews, and I could go into a whole thing about this but no point to do so here and now.
When I say that "they" killed Jesus, let me clarify this for you. The "they" I refer to is all who hated Jesus. And all who hated him then and all who hate him now will hate me. I realize hate might be a little strong but the bias against Christians is very apparent in this world and getting even more common every day here in the US. Talk to some Christians who have believing sons and daughters and how they are treated at most universities these days. Christians get this.
When I became a Christian, my life changed dramatically. Things that used to be okay with me no longer were and it aggravated some of my friends - I lost those friends;not because I was unwilling to still be their loving friend but because they could no longer be comfortable in their own sinfulness knowing that I no longer thought certain things were okay. And I certainly didn't preach or sermonize in any way.
Sorry to bore you with this MM. BTW, I read your little profile and I agree with you that atheists are just like other people in that there are nice ones, bad ones, and so on, but I'm sure if you are honest with yourself, deep inside Christians probably annoy you more than other groups.
Oh, and don't worry about me trying to convert you. I think God is perfectly capable of catching your attention, if you are open to Him. You may be on FR for more than the reasons you think.
Lastly, I pray that God blesses you today in a special and personal way. Hopefully I haven't offended you with that last one.
Peace to you.
I almost didn't reply to you because you obviously didn't read my post carefully and it was also hard to take you seriously because I've been on FR long enough to have read enough stuff that even if I said what you think I said, it is not even close to the worst thing on there by anyone, Christianor otherwise.
Well, now that I've gotten that clarified, I was referring to "they" in my original post as the people in lofty positions (the Saducees and Pharisees). I did not use the word, Jew, although they were Jewish. But all the good people were too - you know, Peter, Paul, Thomas? Remember them?
I have limited Jewish ancestry and am very proud of it so before you start freaking out on someone, at least make minimal effort to see what they are actually saying. I don't always post things perfectly but I try to make it somewhat coherent.
It's not just the publishers. A few years ago I stopped by the Barnes and Noble located in the Easton Plaza (the largest B & N) in Columbus, Ohio to purchase a book by Tim LaHaye. At the time, it was number one or two on the Best Seller's list. I went to the shelf where the top selleres were located and hmm, it wasn't there. After speaking with a staff member, and a computer search, we "found them" stacked on the floor behind the escalator. In the immortal words of Dave Berry, "I'm not making this up."
Please note that I responded to you in my post #25. YOU never mentioned the Sadducees and Pharisees until YOUR post #32.
Yet you accuse me of not knowing what you said seven posts AFTER I posted.
However, I forgive you for an easy mistake but trust you will apologize to me for insulting me.
pno argument here.
My original post to StephenJohnBanker referred to his comments about ex-college professors being the authors of many of these books. My response to him was specifically that those in high authority (academics, the leftist elite) hate us.
It was at this point that you chose to assume I meant Jews. Therefore, your insult to me (telling me my post was one of the worst things...) was made upon a false pretext; that is, your own assumption, which you must've pulled out of thin air.
I later used the example of the Sadducees and Pharisees only as an analogy to the elites of our day (i.e. the educated people in control).
I certainly don't owe you an apology. I never insulted you, madam. On the contrary...
