OK, so everyone is supposed to avoid Exxon/Mobil, and Citgo. Works well for me, i hold BP stock.
Useless. Venezuela will simply sell its oil to other refiners.
I am glad you are so enthused about this.
I stepped foot in a 7-11 once in over 20 years and all I remember is the smelly middle-Easterner with rotten teeth working behind the counter. Needless to say, I won't walk into another one again, ever!
I think everyone should drive less and then the oil countries will have much less money to use against us.
Not really useless. Oil and gasoline are indeed fungible commodities... but the capital tied up in these stations and stores is costing Citgo money if they aren't selling through them.
The Citgo franchise is a separate issue from the oil Venezuela brings to market. I haven't bought from Citgo in years, and discourage others from doing so.
No it's not. There is much more to it as Citgo makes a profit on every gallon of gas they sell, a profit that will not be realized if they "sell it's oil to other refiners"
BTW...the Harlem "pep rally" was for Chavez was sponsored by Citgo. From MM:
The event, one of a series designed to boost the Venezuelan leader's popularity in the U.S., was organized by Citgo, a Houston-based energy company that is owned and controlled by the Venezuelan government. Under a Citgo program, and in partnership with Citizens Energy, a program started and run by former Congressman Joe Kennedy II, families from low-income neighborhoods in New York, Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia have the ability to purchase discounted home heating oil over winter months.
Venezuelan officials and Citgo employees handed out T-shirts prior to the event with the name of the program "From The Venezuelan Heart To The U.S. Hearths" printed across the front.
Don't forget to write your congressman and senator, as for a tarriff tax on oil from Venezuela - that tax revenue will be used to fund the shortcomings he noted in his speech we don't do properly and, to fund the newly restructed UN he outlined.
I thought Venezuela was pulling Citgo stations out of the USA entirely?
Adding to the list of French Wine, Heinz products, McDonald's, Muslim food marts, Circuit City (personal reasons), BP, and a host of others.
Damn, I'm gonna have to start a list of places I'm NOT boycotting just to make things easier.
Too bad for you. I won't buy BP since they put on the "carbon footprint" dog and pony show. I don't want to make them feel guilty for my burning their gas and polluting.
I would like to have a bumper sticker that says "This car does not stop at Citgo" if anyone knows of such.
Please contact the US Navy and tell them to not let Citgo have exclusive rights to on-base gas stations in the Tidewater, VA area...and then ask them to give all the sailors and marines, compensation for their gas, as they will then be paying $0.10-20 more per gallon off base.
The Boston CITGO sign. Free advertising for Chavez-CITGO
paid entirely for by....... the Boston taxpayers (who relish the Communist-terrorist).
Chevron technically has the best gas formula so I use Chevron.
"Agreed - a boycott of CITGO stations will only result in the 12,000 independent station owners (who are Americans) being thrown out of business - it will do nothing to hurt Chavez or lower his oil income."
And all the sandwiches sold at the woolworths lunch counter come from an american owned bread company so it wouldn't do any good to boycott woolworth.
You haven't missed much. Still the same...
