Another reason why Police in London shouldn't carry guns. /sarcasm
I saw it after I posted, but it really was Karma wasn't it? ;)
Yeah. Chameleon with a "K" though. I just goooooogled it.
G,o,o,o,o,g,l,e,d it, I mean.
Caruso inadvertently makes CSI: Miami the best comedy on TV.
Well we all shine on...instant comma's gonna get you!
As I remember, virtually the whole initial story about Menezes' provocation fell apart. While it's very important to guard against suicide bombers, the way this particular hit went down made the bobbies look like loons and that's putting it kindly.
I was under the impression he ran because he was illegal.
But, yes, I forgot about it until recently.
Did he stop?
Well, I spoke too soon.
This incident was 2 weeks after the bombing. I was thinking of the illegal immigrant in London who ran from the auhtorities on the morning of the bombings ... and was shot in the head as he tripped getting onto the train.
He was never challenged (in line with Met Police operational instructions for dealing with potential suicide bombers), so running or stopping were not even relevant.
The initial story had Menezes wearing heavy clothing, being challenged by police outside the station, running into the station, jumping the ticket barriers and running down to the platform. Precisely none of those things were true. He was wearing a denim jacket and CCTV video shows him entering the station, picking up a newspaper and using an Oystercard to go through the turnstile before walking towards the platform.

No you're thinking of the same one. 2 weeks after the bombing, one day after a unsuccessful follow up attack. Like I say, the initial details turned out not to be correct.
The initial story was that he was wearing a "heavy jacket" on a "hot day" too...
Actually a perusal of the weather records for that day indicate it was a bit chilly that morning, particularly for someone from Brazil..and of course it wasn't a "heavy jacket" anyway.
