We have one already and we've put it in the El Nino position, hadn't you heard? Warm winter with lots of rain in store.
To: Twinkie
when all else fails.....
blame the vast right wing conspiracy, LOL
wonder if Hillary will let them on the campaign bus or will they be stuck with Kerry?
To: pepperdog
A warm winter? Again? Oh no, that will put more downward pressure on oil and heating prices!

"In the ... '60s, there was a sense of a cultural movement that happened, and you really felt a sense of belonging to a community. They (Dixie Chicks) were on their own, and our hope is that people who see this film ... will become part of their community so the Chicks no longer have to stand alone," Kopple says. In the 60's? What a joke.
For liberals it's always 1965 -- and the collective wisdom of 17 year old boomers are pushing toward the age of Aquarius. Sounds lame now - it was sillier then...
Chicks, that was over 40 years ago for most of us... is that what you want to go back to? It's the past, the world has moved on.
Kopple, it would be like being in 1965 and having to listen to the old folks talk about how great it was in 1925.... Some people get "stuck" in a time period and can't adjust. We called them the "establishment in the 60's and made fun of them... Remember that Kopple? That's who you are now - you're the person stuck in the past. And you and the chicks have that old fogies mentality. Hanging on to a time that has past on... Sorry chicks, the 60's are O-VAR.

When in doubt, blame us FReepers, right? BTW, I haven't gotten mine, either...

Chicks don't turn into women, they turn into old biddies, or in the case of the Dixie Chicks; old pitties.

Whatever. Missed the "Whore" comment, but that is kind of a stretch to disparage the whole thread and FReepers in general, but you have a point. Maybe you are a genius, but your post did seem a bit whiny.

Amen!
Why is it so hard for them (Dixie Chicks) to understand that it's not so much the Bush-bashing that's a problem. We have PLENTY of that here. It's Bush-bashing on foreign soil. The airing of dirty laundry to others is (and should be) frowned upon. There ARE consequences to things you do and say.

I'm actually thrilled about this. As long as liberals continue to delude themselves into thinking that all their trevails are the result of some VRWC and not due to the fact that a majority of people in this country disagree with them, they will continue to pursue agendas that further marginalize their positions.
You don't know how many times I've read liberal rants that claim the majority support their views, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It's all the fault of the corporate media or Karl Rove or the Swifties. It's never THEM.

To: subterfuge
I admit, I have a hair-trigger on the subject. It just occurs on every thread involving any star or famous person. And, I'll be the first on to call them "idiots".
IT's the "piling on" - when the poster has absolutely no knowledge of the person being discussed other than "they are part of Hollywood" - therefore, they must be idiots.
And, although, in most cases, it IS true, I just wish there wouldn't be the juvenile name-calling about being ugly, fat, or whores (since, technically, I'm all 3!!)

Evidently the firm that did the "research" for Kopple and the Chicks was the same one Kerry used for the exit polls in '04.

That film is going to cost them even more fans. Pass the Schadenfreude.

We don't need letters. We post email links. Obvious they didn't do their research.
To: pepperdog
Was this the quote where they contend that they've become part of the rock 'n roll family and aren't country anymore? Then they'd better change their name. Any suggestions?

Though she's learned to really think hard about what she says to the press these days,
The way she has been spouting off lately, she hasn't thought too hard.

I also despise the immature, purile, insults and piling on that have NOTHING to do with the issue at hand around here. Some threads (like this one) sound like 2nd graders yelling "you're a bigger poophead than me" .
Wheres your sense of humor?

" If Bush said get a gun and kill an Arab, they would do that."
Maines is married to the actor, Adrian Pasdar.
His father Homayoon was born in Iran and is a cardiologist in PA.
To: kristinn
Maines made an offhand comment about being against violence, and being embarrassed that the U.S. president, George W. Bush was from Texas Ha ha. What a pantload. There was nothing "offhand" about it. It was calculated and planned.
