I don't know what the cabin pressure/air pressure differential is, but let's call it 1 lb/in². I think it is actually somewhat higher. Let's say the door is three feet by six feet. (36x12x72x12)square in x 1 lb/in²=2,592 lb.

If he can open the door, I'm not stopping him.

Search Nazis are among the most annoying people (IMHO) on FR. They revel in repeatedly posting ALREADY POSTED posts. Now I can agree when ya have multiple articles posted within 30 minutes, or it's the 15th post of the day about Steve Irwin. But don't try to bust me for a Google search when the FR search was not returning hits. harrumph.

Sure, the previous posts were 'breaking' during the incident, after someone saw the news ticker on TV, etc. This article is a bit of a wrap-up, written after the incident, and therefore has the possibility of having more up-to-date info.

I don't have a problem w/ others posting links to previous articles on the same subject, I do it all the time. I don't do it to be snarky, but to cross-reference to other comments that might otherwise be missed.

The Mythbusters did a show on explosive decompression of an aircraft in flight and they use a 8 pounds differential. So to open the door one would need the strength to move (8 x 2,592) 20,736 lbs.
