LA stinks. I always avoid it when visiting relatives in Cal.
Good read. BUMP.
(Whew! The damage the scumbag Democrats have done to this nation cannot be overstated.)
Excellent. Back to the top.

Gangster rapper as a cop, just lovely. Someday someone will expose those homos. I use to work at a studio years ago, and half of these rappers were gay as a $3 dollar bill. That`s why they are so into crime and jail, going to jail is like a gay paradise for them. I remember one seession in particular this homo was making out with his boyfriend right there on the couch, then the next second he was on the mic with the usual stuff, calling women ho`s and bitches. I guess they don`t like the competition women give them for men.
Substitute "Mexican" for "Black" and you have the same thing x's 10 in so cali. Not just in LA.
I got outta there after 13 years.
Exactly the same thing as Bridgeport CT.
Amazing....even the mayor is a coke head.
Excellent article. Well worth the read.
The damage can be overstated, but you really have to be guilty of nightmare fantasy to overstate the damage.
The damage is everywhere. The Howard County Police Department allows crack dealers to operate in my neighborhood because of racial politics. I think someone is also being paid off. My own agency has people on the payroll who are dumb as dirt. It is really sickening.
I didn't read the whole article but...let's be fair...the image of fat cops stealing apples is an old one which has little to do with affirmative action and a great deal to do with political pork.
LAPD has bigger problems than that...a lot of area to cover and an over-reliance on technology.
Fletcher Bowron was a reform mayor of the late '30s who earned his rep by cleaning out the police dept of the previous criminal mayor, Frank Shaw.
I'm sure political correctness has corrupted lots of institutions, including the police. But lets have some perspective.
bump
Shortly before you said you hadn't read the whole article but if you get a chance to finish it I'm sure you'll agree that "perspective" isn't the problem - it's the corrosive affect of affirmative action which is having a harmful affect on our whole culture politically, economically, educationally, and (as the article explains) with law enforcement and public safety.
By the way, American Enterprise may be a conservative think tank but even liberals admire its integrity, well documented sources, and scholarly, responsible publications.
Race isnt the only form of PC.,Affirmative action. lets talk about gender.
Exactly! And the article discusses precisely that in the last part of the essay.
Substitute "political correctness" for "affirmative action" and I couldn't agree more strongly. It's what's caused so many of us to abandon the Left and the Democrats.
Nonetheless, it's possible to go too far, to paint affirmative action as entirely bad, to gloss over the failings which led to its adoption. While it makes sense to prefer our sonofabitch to the other guy's it's no good pretending that either is a good fellow. It was in that spirit that I made my comments.
We're pretty close but I think affirmative action and PC are pretty much the same. Affirmative action is a perfect example of the law of unintended consequences. Aside from the fact that it violates the 14th Amendment by promoting (reverse) racial discrimination it's had an adverse effect (as I outlined) on our whole culture.
Incidentally, I don't think it advances blacks or any minority group because it encourages the mindset that "I'm owed all this..." and my problems are really the fault of society, none my own fault, etc.
Human nature being what it is, it discourages many blacks from realizing their potential. Hey! if I don't have to work as hard and compete on a level playing field... I won't!
I could go on but you get the point.
