Yes, their theories are inevitably wrong, but why do they keep cropping up?

I suspect it's because their theories tend to be more comforting to them than the truth.

I think you nailed it.

I love #4 because it links to a BBC News story about the hijackers being alive and has a picture of one. Only problem, that story has since been debunked several times over. Do the 9/11 conspiratorialists have any sense of responsibility that when their claims are proven false to apologize and beg forgiveness for trying to pick open the scab of 9/11 for this nation?

Nope - they just huff and puff some more and stomp their feet about how awful the war against Islamic terrorism is. Their agenda is so transparent it's not even remotely amusing. It's just sick.

The investigative journalists should have been able to figure out just how obvious the solution to this puzzle was. They all write that a man named Abd al-Asis al-Umari had been named as a perpetrator by the FBI, and that there are apparently many individuals with this name. Bröckers and Hauß even noticed that the FBI had initially released an incorrect first name to the press. All of this certainly suggests that there was a mix-up, but it's also something that the conspiracy theorists apparently did not consider plausible.

In the case of the supposedly surviving terrorist Walid al-Shari, the truth is even more obvious. At least Bülow had the opportunity to avoid making this mistake. In his book, he writes that the alleged assassin Shari "lives in Casablanca and works as a pilot, according to information provided by the airline Royal Air Maroc."

If Bülow had inquired with the airline, he would have discovered that the name of the pilot who lives in Casablanca is Walid al-Shri and not, like that of the assassin, Walid al-Shari. This minor detail makes a big difference, namely the difference between a dead terrorist and a living innocent man. But to conspiracy theorists, discovering the truth is like solving a crossword puzzle for children: What's a four-letter word for a domesticated animal? Hrse.

"But the banned played on."

I'm just sayin' this probably won't placate the retread because it already had one thread up and running with its screed.

That's the funny thing about leftists. Parading around with their drums, and their signs, and their dorky hats, yelling and screaming into the camera. They always think they're not being heard.

That they're being heard is in fact the problem.

As I stated in another thread, I used to believe that conspiracy theorists -- although wrong -- were optimists. By definition a conspiracy means that "somebody" or "somebodies" are in control. Then I actually met a comspiracy theorist and they were so annoying they wiped away any good feelings I had about them. I mean, this guy was REALLY annoying. Really, really annoying.

I need cash as well. Even pennies have value...mostly for flinging at nutjob conspiracy theorists from dark shadows.

13. As Charlie Sheen said, How can a plane make a 270 degree turn and drop 7000 feet in attitude in less then 2 minutes?

14. I heard it is impossible for cell phones to work on planes moving at 500mph and at 30000 Feet.

These two are the funniest ones.

13. Who ya gonna believe, Charlie Sheen, or your lying eyes?

14. Umm...they do. Sometimes "some" people accidently leave their cell on in their carryon...and quickly kick it with their foot when it rings mid-flight...

>> If there is a real conspiracy, we'll never really know it until it is too late. <<

Not only that:

These tin-foilers apparently believe the conspirators are so clever in covering their tracks that the less an event looks like a conspiracy, the more it actually IS a conspiracy.

In other words, additional solid proof against their conspiratorial theory will merely cause them to believe that a conspiracy has occurred. So a rational dialogue with them is totally impossible.

Welcome to free republic.

Signed up 11/28/97 just to post this? :)

I noticed he was the very first to sign up, too. He must wanted to get this posted really bad.

Lately, I've been randomly checking screen names to find the oldest FReeper. I just hit the jackpot.

Anything to lull people back to sleep?

It takes a total moron to believe even a smidget of that crap they spew about this attack.

Sadly, these moonbats not only walk amongst us, they have a right to vote as well.

To: Jim Robinson; All

FReepers CAN do something positive about this:

This is about an idiot Physics professor at Brigham Young University (BYU), who was put on PAID LEAVE for promoting this insanity.

http://www.heraldextra.com/content/view/192601/3/

The JonesReport has the phone number of the BYU president.

We can all call or e-mail BYU President, expressing support for his decision, commend him on his good sense to put the idiot Prof. Jones on leave, and recommend that he change the leave to UNPAID LEAVE and FIRE him, because he clearly is not fit to teach. That'll teach the idiot troll to promote his insanity on FR.

B.Y.U. President - (801) 422-2521

OR you can send e-mail directly to him:

Send email to President Samuelson

Let's do the opposite of what the troll wanted to accomplish!!!!
