During that same time, the CPI-W (Consumer Price Index - Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers) rose 4.3%. Therefore, in the BEST year since 1990 middle class wages went up 7/10ths of a percentage point!
This does not take into account the fact that the CPI undercounts inflation at least 0.5% and maybe as much as 1.0% because of government fudging like the hedonic price deflator, substitutions and other dubious math. Also, CPI does not include cost of buying a house - it uses rental costs, which were suppressed by the housing bubble - as well as things like college tuition.
If you wish to rely on MSM for your economic information, that's fine. But it doesn't do much for YOUR credibility.
