There are a heck of lot of people who post on here that don't understand Texas and Texans!
Nellie Connally, like Lady Bird Johnson, were "old school" Texas ladies, meaning they did not enjoy talking about the past in great detail. To them, the past was just that, the past. They especially did not enjoy bringing up the painful details. My late grandmother was very much the same way.
These were tough old ladies, raised in rural areas of Texas in the early 1900s, who made it through the Depression and WWII. A lot of them were Democrats, because that was the party of Texas until the 1980s. But most were God-fearing conservative women, who passed their values down to those of us who are now conservative Republicans.
I am always sad when I hear about the passing of another of these tough old ladies, because they sure don't make them like that anymore!
RIP, Nellie.
May I suggest you look at my post on Explaining the Shooting of Governor Connally.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1725590/posts
Governor Connally per my scenario was hit by the third bullet fired from the TSBD. Testing would have shown it was from the same rifle which fired the second shot which hit JFK in the back and a bullet fragment wounded him slightly in his left leg.
What I basically believe has been proven beyond any doubt is that the last two shot were fired on top of each other, BANG-BANG as told by Secret Service agent Roy Kellerman, the Dallas Police Recording analysis, and I show John Connally was hit in the back at Z=325, 0.7 seconds AFTER the Fatal head shot to President Kennedy.
The best analysis of the Dallas Police Recording is Dr. D.B. Thomas' "Echo Correlation...." published in Britian in 2001. The censureship on this side of the pond is still alive and well :-)
I show a few blowups of Connally at Z-324 to Z=328 and you can see his head COLLAPSE when the bullet hits him in the back. IMHO, there is NO doubt that is when Connally was shot in the back. This is the FIRST time to my knowledge the head movement of Connally has been documented as the reaction to Connally collapsing. There is a video clip attached that has John Connally saying he was knocked forward by the force of the bullet.
Connally's reaction to the Z=222 shot to JFK's back is because he was SLIGHTLY wounded with a bullet fragment from that shot to his left leg. Of incredible importance, Connally's left leg wound was a bullet fragment, NOT a bullet like the present day documentaries say. It makes for an easier "buy" when they say the bullet fell out of his left leg on to the stretcher.
We are well on our way to showing that not only was the conspiracy obvious, the censorship has been worse than you ever imagined. Stay tuned.
We don't know what odds she was facing if she gave a true assessment of that event.
Washington DC was a difficult place to be and, also her home in Texas at this period of time.
She always acted as though she couldn't talk freely of the event.
