Hey, the islamofascists ARE girliemen! Their mysogyny stems from their envy of women because Osama and company are in denial about their homosexuality. Note their penchant for attacking helpless women and children. If they were real, macho men they would stand their ground and take on the United States military. I agree it is abstract. May I politely suggest you reread my statement carefully. You might see that I am actually agreeing with you. Of course postwar Germany and Japan were pretty depressing places, with all the social ills that go with proud nations reduced to humiliating defeats. In most cases though, the population had had quite enough of total war and were realising that it was the insane policies of their former leaders, not the occupying powers, who were to blame for their troubles. Of course there had to be a heavy hand on occasions, but it was kept in a velvet glove,and that, Im sure, is the tack we need to take in Iraq. Be sensitive and supportive of the locals, but be ready to thump the hardcore loonies when they make their move, as they will. Its not easy. The enemy are hiding, right out in the open, but thats the nature of the beast. In this war the battles will be fought with bullets AND words.
And for the record, I'm not complaining about the way things are being done in Iraq. I think we're doing pretty well.
