Were they held against their will, did they have their lives threatened at gun point, were their families caused grief, were they stricken with fear? Would that make someone angry? I think yes to all of that.. and so they need to express their anger at those who caused it.. or they remain hostages to the fear instilled by terrorism and remain victims.

Unfortunately, too many Westerners don't realize that this is the fate that awaits them if they don't submit. They seem to have the belief that this can be negotiated away.

In my own opinion ( and hopefully Gods ) since these guys were under duress it would not count anyway.

Islam itself says it's ok to deny your religion if you are under duress, and the people holding them know this.

From a professional point of view, why upset the cart now that they might be able to get some increased access out of it ? ... even if inside they think it's a crock ....
