Brit just said it was under gunpoint they had to say they converted to Islam. He said this is the kind of thing we face as a nation and in the world.

I am still wondering who this group is. Brit was excellent, wasn't he?

I'm feeling weepy myself; I really didn't think this would end well.

FNC saying Hammas worked to get them released.

Roger Ailes: Journalists shouldn't be used as paws in world events. In everyone's interests to let the journalists do their jobs and the entire international community with a few exceptions are more understanding that the safety of journalists is paramount.

Ailes said they weren't 100% confident they were still alive and there were times there was no communication but they tried to operate knowing it wasn't in the kidnapper's best interests to harm the victims.

Ailes is asked if journalists will report differently as a result of this.

Ailes said we operate as a family as do other news organizations. This is a group of people who act as brothers and sisters and thanks to the other news organizations who were supportive and they will look at security procedures.

More and more, everyone in the world understands that protecting journalists protects them. If you harm a journalist, it's more difficult for that person to tell your story.

Centanni was interviewed by Shep and clearly stated that the "conversion" was at gunpoint and he "didn't know what the hell was going on".

Now comes the hard part....Did they convert...or will they denounce their new found cult?

Why is this "the hard part"? They'll be asked if they converted, and they'll say "You tell me what YOU would have done with a gun to your face. I ain't no Muslim, no matter WHAT I may have said."

Not hard.

Centanni on the phone with Shep Smith. Centanni emotional and happy to be free. He thanks everyone (voice is very, very shaky).

Centanni says they were tied together very tightly and he has sore wrists as a result. That was the beginning of their torment the first night.

They were then roughly removed from car and herded into garage. Dirt floor, lying face down. If he tried to sit up, he was forced back down. Shoulder wrenched back and hands tightly bound for hours. Wouldn't let him talk to Olaf.

Over the days the terrorists asked for written statements about what Centanni had done in Iraq and Afghanistan. They wanted the story of his life. They were forced to convert to Islam and it was something he felt he had to do because they had the guns.

Centanni: I'm emotional because there were times I thought I was dead.

He said this is the kind of thing we face as a nation and in the world.

Good for him. That's precisely what the journalists would have said about Nazism during WW2, yet our current reporters wouldn't dare say it on TV today--unless they're on FOX.

I wonder..

if the strategy behind these Western journalist grabs isn't to scare off news organizations and leave all reporting of ME to arab control..

If you convert to Islam and then renounce it you're a dead man. The careers of these two in the Middle East is over, for their own safety.

After release, Centanni also said he had "the highest respect for Islam..."

What's that all about?

Centanni said that? When? I've been watching since shortly before 6:00.

And let me add, if Centanni wishes to continue reporting from that part of the world, he has to stay on good terms with the people he's reporting about.

And who knows. He may seriously respect Islam as a religion. The president doesn't condemn Islam as a religion overall but mentions it's been hijacked by extremists.

IMHO, there are surely many fine muslims in the world...but islam, at its heart, is pure evil.

The prophet may have started out as a decent feller, but as he gained power, he became a monster. Islam and its prophet combined are one of the most destructive forces this world has ever seen.
