"I will choose to follow Christ."
As well you should have the right to in peace, without organized group campaigns to change you. Just give Jews the same courtesy.
None of my friends who have found Judaism and have converted from Christianity to Judaism and are strong, strong Jews try to convert Christians to Judaism.
"You may choose to follow Dennis Prager, who is a solid conservative political thinker, but is clearly deficient when it comes to the duty of Christians."
Now here you are just plain wrong. For over a decade Dennis Prager was host of a daily radio show, called, "Religion on the Line," a show that lasted several hours and whose reason for existing was thorough exploration of various religions and their teachings and obligations. He came to understand Christians exceedingly well and is close friends with scores of Christian and Muslim clergy of all denominations and the duties and perceived duties each has -- he learned much from them and they from him.
Dennis Prager's most typical speaking engangement is a Christian venue. Tapes of these talks are available.
Correct.
And why I have a mezuza on the doorframes of my house -- one to remind me every day that God is God --- but, two, not sure my grandmother would come inside without them.
I'm sorry, but exactly WHY are you the person who gets to define that?
I think JfJ members can define who and what they are. Their ethnicity is Jewish, they worship Jesus. Sounds like Jews for Jesus is a valid descriptive name.
Shalom.
Nope. A Jew is part of a people and part of the Jewish religion, whether he understands it or not. The Jewish people are unique in that duality. You can't have one for very long without the other.
Bad move on the part of JfJ, using a celebrity's likeness without his knowledge or consent in a way that could be taken as his endorsing or supporting them, or is a member of thier group. A similar situation would be if CAIR took my likness or that of Alouette, Esther Ruth, or Alexander Rubin and tried to imply we were connected with them or endorsed them! (may such an evil thing never happen to us) I'd call that false advertising. JfJ has reinforced the sorry stereotype that Christians stoop to slick tricks to try and "convert" Jewish people (and non-Jewish people).
What defines "Jewish identity"? Neither JFJ nor any other messianic group I'm aware of requires members to be Jews in any sense. A Hindu joins, voila, a "Jew" who believes in Jesus.
Yes, unfortunately that's true.
I'm willing to bet Jackie Mason wouldn't sign on to your characterization of "abhorrent"--but JforJ has no right to use his image on their lit without his permission, or his words to imply an endorsement. This seems a property issue (celebrity endorsements) than anything else.
Not in my experience. I was never considered a Jew.
Shalom.
Look up the name of God "Qannah" then say that again
"A Jew wakes up every morning and says: Who can I sue?"
