The shooting in Worthington is a tragedy! My heart aches for the parents! Unfortunately, some say it was the result of "youthful prank." Reality is stark. The social outcast is ignored or derided or tormented. The outcast reaches a breaking point and lashes back. Ergo Allen Davis pulled the trigger to warn people away; Rachel Barezinsky was shot. Which came first? The chicken or the egg? Research has shown that when someone is chronically rejected or taunted, or bullied, it can become insidious and can trigger a vicious cycle of long-term psychological damage and cause impaired thinking. All children (and adults) should be taught to respect others, even when they are different. Tormenting someone is not a "Prank!"
