Good article, thanks for posting. Larry Elder always seems to be able to articulate just how I feel.

will Americans be better off?
Read the 9/11 Commission Report...then ask that question.
After a certain period of time people want a change for any reason or no reason at all. It is just one of those 'the grass is always greener elsewhere' kind of things.

The problem with the Republicans is they compromised with the devil....and in so doing, gave credence to liberal lunacy....liberal principles. The prophetic words of James Madison need to be repeated over and over and over again....until they are internalized by the Republican Party. From
Memorial and Remonstrance:
"....3. Because it is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. We hold this prudent jealousy to be the first duty of Citizens, and one of the noblest characteristics of the late Revolution. The free men of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entangled the question in precedents. They saw all the consequences in the principle, and they avoided the consequences by denying the principle.[!!!!!!] We revere this lesson too much soon to forget it. Who does not see that...the same authority which can force a citizen to contribute three pence only of his property for the support of any one establishment, may force him to conform to any other establishment in all cases whatsoever? ..."
WE MUST NEVER compromise in a manner that gives credence to the notion that the fruit of individual labor can be appropriated via taxation, to benefit society as a whole. That is the very definition of Socialism.
Socialist Insecurity, Medicare, No Child Left Behind, etc. are all examples of unconstitutional Socialism. The Republicans erroneously reinforced the notion that these items fall within the proper purview of the Federal Government, or that they benefit society as a whole, by "compromising" with the Leftists. These programs destroy individual property rights, individual liberty, and the incentives to provide for retirement security, medical care, and the education of our children. They destroy the will of the individual. We must end this dalliance with Socialism and return to the vision of the Founders: one of individual liberty and responsibility.

The Dems have overplayed their hand in their desperate atempts to gain bck Congress.
Americans may be frustrated with the war on terror, but they don't want to cut and run. A phased pullout is cutting and running.

"Not one word about North Korea. Not one word about Iran. And virtually every one of the six Democrat initiatives requires greater federal government intrusion, higher taxes and contempt for the private sector to compete and innovate. In short, "fiscal irresponsibility." "

The Pubs are all to quick to abandon the President when the going has gotten tough in the WOT. Once GWB is gone how do we know they will push the policy of democratizing the middle east. It's an ambitious monumental task and neither party has shown the will to see it through.

Does anyone actually remember Jimmy Carter's presidency and the late-1970s, the last time the Democrats took over after an unpopular war and because of the backlash against a Republican president? On the bright side, if the Democrats win in 2008, maybe we'll get another Ronald Reagan to save us from it.
