Its common knowledge the Behe "accepts common descent" so that he is not fired, sent off to Siberia, etc.

Common, but undocumented, knowledge. Do you have any basis for the allegation? Besides, doesn't he have some sort of sinecure at DI if he's dismissed from his current positin?

Besides, its illogical to argue that irreducible complexity refutes darwins theory and then accept common descent.

How's that? Lamarck, among others, thought common descent was true, but didn't know about natural selection; his protege Lysenko accepted common descent but not Darwin's theory. As near as I can tell, Behe, is basically saying that evolution needed some "help" from a "designer" to get the IC thingies started, but that otherwise it works as Darwin and his successors figured it did.
