What is it that they say about a fool and their money?
yeah...
let me preface it by saying in my lifetime :)
Collins stand on the issue is identical to Harris'. Wasn't that pointed out to you on a recent thread?
So here you are at 2:29PM yesterday admitting that Collins' and Harris' stance on the issue is the same.
Yet a mere 9 hours later, you're back to making the same claim again. What's up with that?
p.s. Did I mention I voted for Katherine Harris today? It was a pleasure to mark my ballot for a solid conservative candidate.
Hmmm...Well, for the benefit of those not party to the exchange, here is what was pointed out to you yesterday (courtesy of Sherri):
Collins and Harris on abortion:Congresswoman Harris for parental consent, 24 hour waiting periods, and making it a criminal offense to harm or kill a fetus during the commission of a violent crime. Additionally, Congresswoman Harris is a strong proponent of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003.
Collins As a United States Senator, I would vote to ban the horrific procedure known as partial-birth abortion. Additionally, I would support common-sense legislation requiring parental consent, a 24-hour waiting period, and spousal notification, among others.
Somehow, this hadn't been posted yet.
"He's a no-nonsense candidate who doesn't necessarily embrace
Republican orthodoxy. He doesn't want to make abortion illegal,
for instance"--St. Petersburg Times June 30 2006
p.s. I voted for Katherine Harris today, without reservation.
here fishy, fishy...
I went to Katherine Harris' website and pulled her statement on abortion. Here it is:
Congresswoman Harris has a proud record of protecting the rights of the unborn. She has fought hard for parental consent, 24 hour waiting periods, and making it a criminal offense to harm or kill a fetus during the commission of a violent crime. Additionally, Congresswoman Harris is a strong proponent of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003.If Collins is "pro-abortion", then you'd need to define Harris as a pro-abort as well. After all, their stance on the issue is virtually identical.
Incidentally, I'm not sure I understand the references to baiting. I'm trying to have a serious conversation here - it has nothing whatsoever to do with flaming or baiting.
But, where does harris' position statement say that she wants abortion made illegal? All she says she wants are waiting periods, parental notification, tough laws against harming a fetus in the comission of a crime, nothing about making abortion illegal. They (Collins and Hariis) both use the standard moderate republican platform on abortion. Florida Right to life merely picked the Republican 'Front Runner' to support, there's no difference in their abortion views. Actually, there are som Dems that have the same views on abortion...not many, but a few.
Indeed I am. Some people need things repeated multiple times before they can fully comprehend it. Yet sadly, evidently twice is still not enough.
and once again you have neglected conveniently omitted the fact that Katherine Harris is endorsed by Florida Right to Life. Why would you omit the Right to Life endorsement? Enquiring minds want to know...
No omission at all. I will happily stipulate that Harris received the endorsement. You see, I don't purport to claim that she's anything other than solid on the issue of abortion.
However I will also note that her stance on the issue is virtually identical to Collins'. Therefore, if you label Harris as right on the issue of abortion, you should refrain from claiming that Collins is wrong. Otherwise you might be perceived as spreading falsehoods. Not that anyone who supports or associates with the Harris campaign would ever do anything like that. LOL.
2005 Representative Harris supported the interests of the NARAL Pro-Choice America 0 percent in 2005.
2004 Representative Harris supported the interests of the NARAL Pro-Choice America 0 percent in 2004.
2003-2004 Representative Harris supported the interests of the National Right to Life Committee 100 percent in 2003-2004.
2003 Representative Harris supported the interests of the NARAL Pro-Choice America 0 percent in 2003.
1995-2004 On the votes that the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Assocation considered to be the most important in 1995-2004, Representative Harris voted their preferred position 0 percent of the time.
1995-2003 Representative Harris supported the interests of the Planned Parenthood (House) 0 percent in 1995-2003.
Florida Right to Life doesn't routinely endorse primary candidates.
I have no idea why. Presumably they endorsed the frontrunning candidate. Regardless, it's evident to anyone other than the blindly partisan that their stances on the issues are virtually identical.
Nice try, doesn't fly. Facts are more persuasive than thin conjecture to suit your agenda.
They certainly are. And what facts could be more persuasive than the candidates' own posted stances?
They endorsed Harris on her voting record, Collins doesn't have a voting record as he has not held an office.
Leroy Collins bio
I am a fifth-generation Floridian from a family dedicated to public service. As a U.S. Naval Academy graduate (1956), I served in the Navy and Navy Reserve (submarines) for 34 years, retiring as a two-star Admiral. My civilian careers in high-tech financial services and real estate have spanned 36 years. With major threats to Americans worldwide now, I want to help Florida and America through these challenges.
With over 1000 people a day moving to Florida, our population ranks 4th in the nation. In 2004, 76.8 million people visited Florida, contributing $52 billion to our States economy. The U.S. military added another $44 billion, and we lead the Southeast in farm income.
Our State is changing quickly and becoming more influential every year. Many of the issues we confront, from this rapid growth cannot be resolved in Tallahassee. We need someone in the U.S. Senate who understands these challenges and will serve Florida and our country with dedication and determination.

Good news is Collins hasn't dined with Mitchell Wade
Harris has run into numerous problems throughout her campaign including losing three campaign managers, locking her campaign staff out of the office, and flagrantly violating election law in Florida. But what has struck the biggest blow to her chances has been the revelation that she took tens of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions from crooked defense contractor Mitchell Wade while dining at the super-posh Citronelle in Georgetown. Harris has denied being under investigation and has claimed that never received a subpoena.
Now her third former campaign manager Glenn Hodas claims that she not only was issued a subpoena, but she lied to her staff about it. Hodas told the Tampa Tribune, Finding out about the subpoena caused me to wonder about what was going on and what else I didn't know. But I don't want to comment any further on what appears to be a pending investigation. Ouch.
"I have a very good friend that has known her for a long time (pre-2000) and he cannot stand her because of her arrogance, etc. that was apparent a long time ago. Shame some of you cannot see just how bad a candidate she is for the Florida Senate just because she did her job in 2000 but you can bet she did it because Jeb gave her some backbone. Even then she made some misstatements and didn't push for all military ballots to be counted. No one in their right mind goes through this many campaign aides.
She is arrogant, tempermental, won't listen, late, makes excuses that make no sense and the list goes on and on."

Would you like to talk about some of your heroes, e.g., Hillary, Maxine, Rep. Baloney, Strabenow, Boxer and so on. Those are just the "fairer" sex.
Your argument is more than just weak.
