As expected, Lebanon harbors and supports terrorist groups. Why would we expect a UN ceasefire to change that?

They said the war would end when the two military people were returned and Heszbo was disarmed and removed from the border.

Islamo Fascists are great at playing both sides of the coin. Deal with their governments and get chastised for supporting ruthless dictators. Instal democracy and get chastised for butting in and being militaristic. Defend against an attack and get hammered for being the aggressor. And, the final insult, talk about peace with these Muslim governments and they immediately see it as a sign of weakness causing more war etc etc etc.

Given that this latest action was a dismal failure in Lebanon on the part of Israel, it's not surprising that Lebanon's prez is still in the hands of Iran & Syria. Lebanon's prez was at the UN crying and whining for that reprobate Kofi to do something. The US-France negotiations were embarrassing and poor. The terrorists are still entrenched and are the winners. So much for Bush's War on Terrorism. Sheesh!

No, Emille Lahoud is a christian. He was placed in as President by Syria as a figure-head. He's really a symbol that Syria still has alot of control over lebanon.
One positive I should note, however, is that Hezbollah ran south Lebanon by gunpoint and used that power to subvert the democratic election Lebanon just had, and even then it didn't gain that enough seats. The one major positive about the Lebanese army and UN going into south lebanon is that Hizbullah's political subversion is undermined, especially in christian cities and villages.

Well, look at it this way. The next time Israel invades Lebanon, which could be next week, there will be no pre-text of just going after Hezbollah. The government of Lebanon is siding with the Hezbos, thus Israel can just destroy all of Lebanon and be done with it.
I am wondering if the Mossad would not be well advised to arm or ressurect the Christian Millitias again as a counterforce to the Hezbos. Sure, it will throw Lebanon into a civil war, but it could result in throwing the Hezbo's out.
