No, but neither can a good liberal. Anyone who works to deny or destroy the foundations of Christianity and the western Enlightenment on which this nation was built are working to undermine our unique blessings and success. By definition such a person is not a good American.

Louis would be on the first barge out of brooklyn. I know, but harlem doesn't rhyme.

You have been assigned the personal duty of escorting him to the barge.

I have worked with muslims, and they seem like good, normal people, Americans to me. They work hard, send their kids to college, and seem to want the things we want.

They are cultural and religious Muslims; they are not political or "devout" Muslims.

I know a few myself, and they laugh at the phony use of Islam to justify killing people or taking over governments. They are American, through and through.

One was my co-worker for a while and he asked me "If the Pope insisted that Catholicism be made the official state religion of America, would you support him in that?"

Of course I said no, and he said "Well, that's the way most Muslims feel about this silly Sharia law. We just ignore that part of the Koran, just as you Christians ignore the provisions of the Bible against usury and dietary laws."

Common sense, folks. Religious extremists lack common sense.

I used to work for a friend who said he was a Muslim and he was from Pakistan. He was getting more American every day, I never saw him pray and the only time I saw him fast was when his parents were here during Ramadan.

Much as I believe that Islam is incompatible with Christianity and America, you can't lump all who say they are Muslims into the terrorist camp.

Unfortunately to undercut my own point, I think we might end up making a decision and some of these people are going to have to take sides in order to save civilazation.

Durka! Durka!

Your argument is specious in that it presents only an orthodox religious zealotry.

Anyone who is slavish to their God, mullah or priest is not to be confused with the vast majority of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Shintoists, Budhists who are more socially advanced and open their hearts and minds to reason and dignity.

That said, I still can't quite equate Islamic fascists with radical Zionists.

If we experience another attack on the scale of 9/11 or greater, we won't be America anymore, either. And, I have no doubt that plans are being laid for just such a thing. I detest big, intrusive government, but I'm also very hawkish on defense. It's a real quandary, how to deal with an internal threat such as this.

I work with a young Pakistani man on occasion.
He is a Muslim who observes Ramadan and eats kosher,
although I don't believe it extends beyond that.

He recently became a U.S. citizen and detests whats
being done in the name of Islam.

I simply can't understand people like Hugo Chavez. Can he be so dumb? Or is it power that blinds him? It would seem he'd KNOW what Iran and its leaders would eventually do to him (an infidel) when they're finished using him. Same w/ the MSM and their speech rights....UGH!!

Yeah right. I can see the American people and our legal system approving the shipping out of the country six million american citizens because of their religion. Can you imagine Louis Farakhan's reaction?

I for one don't give a damn about his reaction.

I do give a damn about the Consitution, and rounding up people based solely on their religion is anathema to it.

This proposal is so un-Constitutional as to be ludicrous, and it makes me sad that posters on a site devoted to freedom would advocate it.

Thanks, I accept. Should only need a small army to accomplish the task and a few additional barges for the followers. Having heard what amounts to treasonous trash spewing from the mouths of those that espouse, I won't be too worried about PC press.

nor is he ever called love

I think it would be quite constructive for any American to actually sit down and read the Koran rather than relying on third party accounts. I have read it. The thing that struck me the most about it is the absence of any reference or acknowledgement of love. The book is written from the point of view that men are by nature corrupt, murderous and selfish. Rather than appealing to the better side of our nature, the Koran basically instructs men as to when they can and cannot be corrupt, when they may murder and when they may not, when they may be selfish and when they may not.

There is virtually no mention of love or caring, or putting someone else's needs ahead of your own. The book assumes man is evil and attempts to harness that inherent nature by delineating when it is permissable to be evil.

As someone who was raised in Catholic schools, I was literally shocked that what I was reading could be the basis of what I understand as a "religion". Using a Christian paradigm, if there is such a thing as a "devil's religion" this would be it.

Have I advocated that? No, I haven't. But, slavish adherence to PC is going to get a lot of our fellow citizens killed. I don't know what the answer is, as far as how to deal with religious zealots who wish to destroy my country from within, and without. Our current path does not appear especially effective, though.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

For the life of me, I cannot understand why an American woman would convert to this oppressive religion. It really bothers me when I see a young woman (who is definitely not middle eastern) wearing that confining garb and basically saying, "Screw You, Freedom." Idiots.
