My 18 year old said the same thing. He said if they came through customs at JFK...they have their pictures, at least on surveillance video.

Remember the chilling pictures of Atta and his cohorts moving through security at the Boston airport?

Somebody has photos. I'm sure the University in Egypt has photos on file with their student ID's. Their "families" will have photos.

It's not a matter of there not being any photos, my question is why aren't they releasing the photos or trying, in a more timely fashion to release them.

According th the above article, the month long program cost $2,000 per student. So tack the two grand onto the air fare.

Maybe they aren't releasing them because they were duped and they have figured out that the students gave them aliases and now are in cover your a$$ mode... Perhaps they couldn't afford to sit on the names any longer, it did take them awhile to release the names... just a thought.

The article says the FBI isn't overly concerned- and that the parents aren't freaking out- saying they probably know where they are...

All things considered- I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing?!

And isn't Iran giving the families of Hezbos money? Wouldn't matter to a financially better-off family I suppose. But to a poor one....And if these families are in fact not as well off, how did their sons get the money to do this?

From CNN's website: http://edition.cnn.com/2006/US/08/08/egyptian.students/

Excerpt: The FBI on Saturday issued a nationwide alert to law enforcement agencies. Included were the students' names, ages, passport numbers and photographs.

"At the present time there are no known associations to any terrorist groups. Approach with caution," the lookout bulletin states.

FBI and immigration officials confirmed there's no evidence pointing to criminal activity or a terrorist threat. However, The Associated Press quoted a law enforcement official as saying that the students could be sent home when found because they violated the terms of their visas.

They were part of an all-male group of 17 students that landed July 29 at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Six of them arrived later at Montana State University as part of an exchange program; the other 11 did not, prompting school officials to contact the government.

A source with knowledge of the investigation said the men, who range in age from 17 to 22, may be staying in New York, visiting relatives and trying to find jobs.

"We have run their names through the wringer," one Department of Homeland Security official said.

U.S. authorities are working with foreign intelligence agencies to make sure there is nothing suspicious in the students' backgrounds, federal sources said. Those sources added that 20 students applied for student visas to go to Montana State, but three of the applicants were denied.

Thanks.

I wonder if the same person processed all twenty apps?

So, according to the CNN website, the FBI DOES have their photographs and apparently those photos have been released to law enforcement agencies. I wonder why they haven't been distributed to the media?

Also, IF these "students" were visiting relatives, or staying in the NY area just looking for work....why would they be so difficult to trace? Possible because no AMERICAN CITIZEN KNOWS WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE? sheesh

"Surely, if this is innocent, the families must know where these guys are".

Exactly! And if the families know their whereabouts, they would have contacted them, in an urgent manner, to tell them that the FBI wants to talk.

That is, IF this is innocent.

And then there are the other like-minded thousands sitting around in our neighborhoods in every state, hating us, praying to Allah for strength to be obedient and kill us.

If Rush's pal Kalstrom (sp?) was still at the FBI he'd be saying that white supremicists did the kidnapping. Just as he claimed they were behind the Washington snipings at the time.

One would sure think that by now any relatives living in the U.S. would have heard by now that there's an urgent FBI alert out for their family members. An honest person would come forward, not spend the rest of their lives in hiding because their stupid kid screwed up.

Six of the eleven Egyptian students who have gone dark, have Mohamed as part of their name.
There should be a computer program that based on recorded acts of terrorism, murder and sniping, can predict the odds of a person, bearing the name Mohamed,of committing an act of terrorism.
