Try washing your hands before you eat.

Of course, your food may then smell and taste of soap.

I should have phrased it differently. I would imagine most galleries are careful about how their art is stored, handled and what elements they are exposed to. That is what I meant. I know gallerie do not " take care" as in cleaning or restoring. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was serious but my choice of words was poor.

I also love seeing the true colors come out of a painting I have had cleaned. I've learned never to pick out a frame until after cleaning. The colors can be so different afterwards that the frame choice no longer suits.

Oh, okay, that wording is a bit better, but it still is not quite correct.

Way back when we were buying our paintings, the gala openings of each new show, people were invited to a viewing party where we all ate, smoke, and drank. Granted, this was a while ago, but it WAS how it was. Auctions were and still are different.

Having a painting professionally cleaned, cost a very great deal of money 25 years ago. I can only assume that the price of that has gone up greatly.

You buy paintings unframed?

I'm not even going to try to pretend that your post makes any sense relative to what I wrote. Have a nice day.

Wouldn't one of those Sharper Image Ionizing air fresheners be cheaper?

We all have the right to ruin our bodies if we choose.

Well, we should, but we don't... unless it's in a goverment-approved way...

Sometimes. I am always happy when I find a painting with a frame in good condition. I have framing done by a local framer. I get a discount and make payments. If I can find a ready made frame I am overjoyed.

There is way too little evidence for most of the claims. Especially about second hand smoke - the evidence is that it stirs up the immune system of some people.

On the other hand, my mother is trying to die from thymic carcinoma and the "paraneoplastic syndrome" that is left over, causing delirium, weakness, and pain. There are no risk factors for thymic carcinoma.

I just read a post of yours, which is probably one of THE vilest, most nauseating things I have had the misfortune to read on FR.

Yes, you are right. It was. It was meant to be sarcastic, a jab at a small segment of people who have no respect for the working class. It was inappropriate, and not a reflection of my true beliefs. Particularly considering that I swing a mop at a small factory for a living.

Walmart, any employer, should have the right not to be forced to offer insurance...but an unfortunate side effect of that decision is people either have to turn to government programs for health care, or continue to clog up emergency rooms with non-emergency conditions.

You don't have the right to proselytize to smokers. You really don't give a damn about them; you just want to feel as though you have some kind of "power"

Incorrect. I'm not seeking any power over anyone. I'm seeking to share my experience, so that others may grow from it. People can take or leave it as they CHOOSE...I'm not going to storm into anyone's house if they fire up a cigarette. But why is it so terrible to say that you think some action is a bad idea? Why is it so bad to want to share experience? Isn't that the basis of education?

How about I begin to berate you and to tell YOU how you must live and behave? You'll eat that up with a spoon, now won't you; n00b? :-)

Tell me how I MUST live...that's unacceptable. Make some suggestions that might help me lead a happier, healthier life...no problem!

You really, REALLY need to learn the rules here.

When posting a sarcastic comment ( though your post was NOT really "sarcastic at all; it was vile, inappropriate, and disgusting; not to mention beyond the pale! )to a thread, one is supposed to end it with : /sarcasm

When posters don't, especially when they are brand new, as you are, everyone is going to assume that you meant exactly what you said.

"Universal health care" is SOCIALISM!

I pay through the nose ( and no it is NOT because I am a smoker; thank your very much )for mine. You don't even want to hear about my deductible.

What...you don't think that smokers know about the hazards; real and made up? GIVE ME AND THE REST OF US A BLEEDING BREAK!

You gave your opinion, you got slammed for it, and you apparently can't take the back and forth here.

Oh.

I've never bought a painting that wasn't already framed. Your post surprised me.

"Do you know what happens when an anti-smoking ad appears on TV? Every single smoker who sees that ad lights up!!"

You nailed that one! When those commercials are on, I DECIDE to smoke, just to say screw the antis!

"Most of us want to quit, but all the pressure *to* quit makes it nearly impossible."

Not me! I have absolutely no desire to quit and I will not apologize for it. To me, tobacco smells like freedom!
