Mel Gibson. It looks as if this is his road to Damascus.
What you said about the CFR. Bingo.
Read no further. I can see where this idiot is going.
AND the Mariners! :o)
:o) Please. It is embarrassing to witness the display of such wanton ignorance!
Then don't display it.
The Passion of the Christ was an accurate portrayal of the crucifixion and the last hours of Jesus Christ. It depicts good and bad Jews: Judas who betrayed and sold out Jesus, the High Priest who handed Jesus over to the Romans, the man who helped Him carry the cross, the angry mob that called for his crucifixion, His mother, His disciples and followers, Mary Magdalene - they were all Jewish. Nothing in the movie says or implies that the Jews killed Jesus.
"Then Judas which had betrayed Him, when he saw that He (Jesus) was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to it" --Matthew 27:3-4.
We are not anti-Germans when we see a film about Hitler and the German people supporting him, nor do we think all white southerners are racists when we see Mississippi Burning. However, the antisemitic charges against Gibson and the Passion no doubt fuel hate towards Gibson and his work.
But the critics have left untouched the meaning of the movie, or for that matter, the meaning of Jesus' death. It wasn't His purpose to cast blame on anyone, but to redeem us from sin and to free us from the bonds of sin.
Let's not forget that Gibson didn't express those comments publicly but only to the cops who stopped him, and he has publicly apologized twice. I haven't heard an apology from the Clintons when Larry Patterson -Bill and Hillary's bodyguard- said he heard them using 10 to 20 times antisemitic remarks, and that Hillary used words like Jew Bastard and called her husband a Jew Boy and a Motherf...ing Jew.
How about Dick Morris' comments about Hillary referring to fees and Jews... Money that's all you people care about is money.
The Clintons didn't just express antisemitic remarks but racist remarks as well:
Larry Patterson confirmed that he frequently heard Bill Clinton use "nigger" to refer to both Jesse Jackson and local Little Rock black leader Robert "Say" McIntosh. Longtime Clinton paramour Dolly Kyle Browning corroborated Patterson on Clinton's use of "nigger." "Not only did he use the 'N' word, he called him a 'GDN' [goddamn nigger], if you catch my drift," Browning told Fox News in 1999.And if anyone thinks they apologized, think again... Hillary's denial of her Jew comment was so preposterous that it made the accusation all the more real.
"In the past, I may have called someone a name, but I have never used ethnic, racial, anti-Semitic, bigoted, discriminatory, prejudiced accusations against anybody," she said.
"I've never done it. I've never thought it." -- Hillary Clinton
LOL! We all have bad thoughts... she never thought it, who are you kidding?
We should all light a candle in the name of Saint Hillary and keep beating the dead Mel horse for a couple of drunken antisemitic comments.
Oh, yes, here is the link of Hillary and Bill's profanities. Let's see how much the media or the public in general cares about it.

Hear, hear!
Your complete Post 107 comments are well-reasoned and "spot on". The above comparison of Mel Gibson's actions as opposed to those of the Clintons couldn't be more devastating!
These are the quality of comments which make Free Republic great!
It's amazing how Christians, and/or Catholics, can get raked over the coals in books and films like The Da Vinci Code, or Madonna's "artistic" crucifixion scenes which clearly mocks Christ, and we're suppose to accept it as something unique.
Yet Mel utters something unflattering towards the Jewish faith and he is ridiculed from coast to coast.
Mel hasn't murdered any Jews, yet we've got Hezzbolah trying to exterminate Israel, yet there's more outcry over Mel's comments than there is about the attacks to murder Jewish men, women, and children.
Please...
Their problem is not with Gibson, not in the least. It is with the Gospel and Jesus' words and actions. Gibson proclaims it in a big way, and that is what they recoil over. They blame him for the message they reject.
Bottom line.
The good Jew/bad Jew phenomena hasn't changed in 2000 years, doubt it will unless through Divine Intervention.
At least some of his fellow actors are coming out for him now.
