I don't think the average Lebanese has much say in the matter. Certainly not the Christian minority.
Your post implies that hizb'allah is a political organization with the popular support of the majority of Lebanese. While hizb'allah has the support of a portion of the population, especially those who profit from or who are supported by it, I think about the organization more in terms of organized crime.
