Soros is quite the clairvoyant!

Man.... Strobe Talbott is the head of the Brookings Institution? I'll never think of them as just misguided liberal think tank weenies ever again.
This is more serious than that.

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros swore in 1973 that the removal of President George Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death," according to The Washington Post.
Ummmmmmmmm . . . . . . . . If this is really true, George Soros is either VERY prescient, or he has problems that neither money, drugs, or intense therapy will cure.

"You can't impose democracy from the outside," Gee! I would have sworn that's what the USA did to Germany and Japan after WW II. Since Soros is a European Jew you would think he would remember that.
Appears to me that Soros is the one "waging war on an abstraction". This is what passes for a enlightened man in the liberal/socialist circles.

...his personal belief that humankind's ability to perceive reality is hampered by its own interference in world affairs, which he believes leads to copious misconceptions about everything from our role in ecology to the validity of the Bush administration's justifications for invading Iraq and waging the "war on terrorism." But not his own interpretations. He has no misconceptions. Right. /sarc
"We're waging war on an abstraction," Soros told his audience, arguing that the Bush policies wrongly build on national fears, which creates more fear.
But not you George, you don't build on fears... no way. /sarc
...he named nuclear weapons, the energy crisis and global warming as the chief concerns facing the world today, and when pressed he said global warming is the most important among the three. "Nuclear war is a serious threat, but not a foregone conclusion," he said. "Climate change needs attention right now, or it could destroy our civilization."
Uh huh, right. Global warming more serious than nuclear war? Uh huh. Right, sure. "Destroy civilizatioin? Well as long as we don't trade on national fears.
Once again we see that there is little correlation with critical thought and extreme wealth. What a great country we have were even a moron can be a billionaire. Oh yeah, did you know John Kerry was in Vietnam?

This guy survived the Nazi occupation of Hungry by informing on fellow Jews, broke the Bank of England with his pound speculation, put Thialand in and recession by doing the same thing, was thrown out of France because of insider trading, has never really explained his meddling in Russian and Georgia politics but constantly finances his own books telling everyone how he would rule the world.
Typical Liberal claiming he is saving the world when in fact everything he does eventually benefits only him.

Has Soros signed on with AlGore yet for the presidential bid? They're made for each other. Mac and cheese, ham and rye, bacon and eggs...

Aside from the 1973 remark, when did the title of philanthropist get added? And why? From what I've seen.. his philanthropy has been limited to such humanitarian institutions as MoveOn and the Democratic Party.
The air must be thinner than usual for Aspen.

How does he explain supporting a brain-dead candidate in 2004?

So a driving, corrupt, greedy, behind=the-scenes, dominant extortionist who swindled millions out the saving and investments in Europe is a "philanthropist" eh?
As long as you support socialism, and oppose freedom and capitalism, you're ALWAYS a good guy.

Wow, brilliant job of editing! Must be a lefty paper. Maybe the 1973 was a typo but for that serious of an error to get through, someone was sleeping on the job.
