An impeccable credential.
Is this a lifetime appointment or does it have an expiring term? Seems California should be providing a deep bench for potential federal judgeships.
.....and because of that, the Rats made an all-out effort, which unfortunately, was successful, to defeat him when he came up for reelection. Does Schwarzenegger's appointment have to be confirmed by the state legislature, or does he have the final say on Rogan's appointment?
Rogan is probably better suited for the appellate courts, but perhaps he and/or Arnie settled for trial court in response to whiffs of opposition to anything higher.
Rogan is absolutely the best. I donated to his last (losing) campaign, and when it was over he called me and every other person who had made a contribution to say thank you. I was making dinner in Boston when the call came, and almost burned the chops!
WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM ON THE FEDERAL BENCH.
Yes!! One of the courageous few. He knew he would have a hard time being reelected and yet he did what he thought was right. Unlike some of those cowardly ones in the Senate. I was really impressed with him.
Superior Court Judges are elected officials. However, Superior Court Judges can be appointed by the Governor, but only when there is a vacancy, and only for the remainder of that particular term... I believe their terms are for 6 years and I'm not sure when Rogan would stand for re-election.
Hugh Hewitt just mentioned this news and is basically thrilled that Arnold was able to put the best person in the job.
Great! I met Rogan personally. A really good man and outstanding credentials. Good job Arnold!
The appointee stands for re-election at the first general election after two January firsts have passed since the appointment. So, in this case, he would be in the Spring '08 primary. Thereafter, 6 year elected terms.
a good man
YEAH!!!!!!!!
Jim Rogan is a really good guy. I spent some time with him last year. What a great guy and a solid conservative.
Good luck to him, he comes from humble beginnings, too bad he isn't still holding office in DC ,, a 'casualty' of the Clinton years, imo.
Rogan does look like a good pick.
Guess who else the gub gave a judgship to today? Parsky's daughter.
can the state supreme court be far behind... let us hope not.
