And it makes a diference in that Anne actually likes and respects her audience, rather than people like King, who calls herself a misanthrope...she readily admits to pretty much despising everyone (a 'la Dorothy Parker). You can't keep an audience of good people if they know you consider them below you.

Since I like both subjects of this article, I can only respond that in order to agree with you, I must abandon my litmus test of "if the shoe fits..."

Never bothered me a whit.

Shoot, I’ve had two kids since that post, and a midlife crisis that would impress Florence King. I wonder if the old bat is still alive.
