Once the dust settles the Lebanese are going to realize that Hezbollah is a threat to their lives and prosperity

Are these the same Lebanese that allow hezbullah to operate in their government, and influence their military? A pox upon them and their progeny. They killed 241 Marines in 1983. I do not care who demolishes their country, or why.

Israel, with the blind support of the United States, has insisted that a cease-fire must be delayed until its military can inflict meaningful damage upon Hizbullah.
Wrong. Israel must continue to the mercilessly pound the enemy until they cry "UNCLE!"

The question that needs to be answered by every single person in Lebanon: is this really worth it? Is our absolute and total annihilation a fair price to pay for destroying Israel? Is there really any hope of accopmlishing that goal? And if not, is the price for a failed objective worth paying?

Frankly, I don't believe the price paid so far has been high enough. What price may be high enough for fanatics the likes of which Israel is combatting? I have no clue, the price that Imperial Japan paid in WWII may provide a clue. I don't believe that a nuclear solution is necessary (as it was in WWII against Imperial Japan), in that Israel can reduce Lebanon to a heap of rubble with entirely conventional means at no real great cost to themselves.

When the cost becomes too great, no matter what the situation, ultimately everybody balks at paying. However, I don't see this a local/regional issue, this is a worldwide Islamic phenomenon as has been made evident by Al Quaeda's statement today. This has the very real possibility of turning into a global bar-room brawl: Islam against the World. In other words, people will end up fighting each other that have nothing whatsoever to do with what's going on in Lebanon (or with Israel).

I expect things to get a whole lot uglier before it gets any nicer.

I think that the bunker busters sent over will be heard from soon. Hopefully some MOAB's as well. This case of the hezzies bringing a knife to a gun fight really should end with a few big bangs.

A DMZ. along the lines of the one in Korea would be a start.

What ever happend to the arrow missile defense that Israel was developing, or does that only work on long range missiles ?
