Forty years ago today, Dad dropped me off at the Induction Center in downtown Los Angeles...the people there, for some reason, stopped being friendly and solicitous - and in a few hours I was on a Greyhound headed for MCRD San Diego.
I'm sure there are a few Marine Corps FReepers who'd like to share their recruit training experiences...I'll drop a few in here periodically.

Good morning.
It was 39 years ago this year. From the AFEES station in Jax we boarded an Army bus to the airport. It was 84 degrees that Oct. We flew to Louisville where it was 44 degrees, and dropping. All I had was a Levi jacket and a set of jeans. Needless to say this FL boy almost froze his cajones off.
Got to Knox, and when the bus stopped (in front of those painted feet), a DI came onto the bus screaming, "get off my fu@king bus NOW!" I said to myself, self you done screwed up...
