.... I would tend to agree with that....in my thinking, and only an opinion, the the soldiers or observers on the ground don't have the institutional bias against Israel that the U.N. in general does....I think they just run around doing basically nothing with no thoughts of political bias....but hell, who knows...but I agree that the U.N. is not favorable to the Israeli's....or at least they are terrorist sympathizers......to be sure

About 3 years ago two UN vehicles pulled up to the Israeli Lebanon border and induced 3 Israeli soldiers to come talk to them. It turns out the UN Vehicles and the men in UN uniforms were Hezbollah. They captured and then later killed the three Israeli soldiers. Israel later turned loose a number of terrorists in order to get the bodies of the dead soldiers returned.

If turned out that the UN "observers" had video taped the encounter but they refused to give a copy of the tape to Israel.

My questions are how close do you have to be to video tape such an encounter and could the UN observers not have warned the Irsaeli troops who were captured and killed.

From that history there is no way that Iraeli troops could have known if the UN forces were really UN Forces or were Hezbollah in UN uniforms in a UN location.

I was just telling my husband about this story this morning. Did we ever find out how the PLO got two UN vehicles?

These soldiers, doing their duty, following orders....Could they be the set-up, unknowing martyrs for an anti-Israeli smear? Could they be the innocent fodder for a U.N. that seeks to preserve Hezbollah? Could this be one of the matches that helps ignite the fire of increased U.N.involvement? Kofi....we know your ways and sentiments and we are watching you.

No. Kofi never did release the Video tape to anyone.

What kind of people with hold evidence? Those that can be proved innocent by the witholding or those that can be proved guilty.

Kofi knew the UN forces were going to be in the line of fire. He wanted them killed as a way to turn public opinion against Israel.

Israel screwed up, period. It happens in war and now they'll have to deal with the fallout

I don't think so. I think Israel deliberty targetted them because they were probably providing help to the Hezbo's (seeing how the UN is always pro-arab and anti -Israeli on most everything). Don't under estimate Israel when it comes to "accidents" Just ask anybody who served on the USS Liberty in 1967!

You can just bet that the UN would pick Observers that did not agree with the Un position on Hezbollah.

I can just hear Kofi saying, "Get me some compeletly unbiased UN troops to send to Lebanon. We certainly don't want troops serving under the UN banner that share our UN views."

Could I interest you in some ocean front property in Arizona?

Kofi Annan is a sick conniving criminal joke using a typical dodge. Divert attention to someone else. He should be in prison.

...lol.....sure.....and you are just using speculation and emotion...sure I hate the U.N., but unlike many here, I won't accuse the ground guys unless there is proof....so do you have it?...or do you just believe it cause others here do and you THINK it is true?....sorry, I don't assume that unless there is proof.....and I already live near the ocean....

If they truly were "Peace Keepers" they would of been enforcing UN resolution 1553 and Hezbollah would not of been on the border building tunnels, bunkers, storing rockets and other weapons, setting booby traps, and preparing for a large battle they knew would come.

...You are right in your history about that event...and it should just make Israel cautious ever again to trust those guys...for sure....but you can't assume ALL U.N. guys are terrorists in disguise....one question.....in WWII, many Germans dressed up as American soldiers to infiltrate our lines...under your thinking...we should have killed our own troops in France since you from now on couldn't trust American troops because they could be Germans in disguise. So I understand your enthusiasm and concern, but one major event like that is just that....and event...if a pattern develops, then the should have no contact with U.N. personnel......if they have proof of complicity....then kill them all

....well those guys had NO mandate under 1559 to take any action at all...not their fault....but the fault of the ridiculous resolution....one which the U.S. voted for too. I never understand why they send unarmed observers into a combat or future combat zone with no authority to do a damned thing.....useless

I guess us little people are impotent as far as getting rid of the guy, but we can make it our lifelong mission to expose his vileness every chance we get.

I also think this war is also showing the world Kofi's true colors, at least the ones paying attention. His steadfast refusal to cut Israel any slack is getting harder and harder to ignore.

Maybe Hizballah would not let them leave. Were there any secondary explosions?

Israel didn't screw up. Annan did by not getting the UN the hell out of the war zone. The deaths are on the head of that incompetent egghead Kofi.

"The very idea that individuals with clear links to the Hamas terrorist network maybe on the Unwra payroll is totally unacceptable and should be properly investigated," Dan Gillerman said.

On October 7, 2000 three IDF soldiers were abducted by Hesbollah near a UNIFIL position, an event that was witnessed by UNIFIL personnel who may have even been involved. They were abducted while patroling the southern (Israeli) side of the Israeli-Lebanese border. UNIFIL's impartiality has been called into question since allegations have surfaced concerning the possible bribery of UNIFIL personnel facilitating the kidnapping and by the refusal of UN personnel to cooperate in the Israeli investigation of the kidnapping.
