Give it a go. If you really have something to say, you can write a chapter in an evening.
In a day or so, you can write another one. Don't worry about spelling or punctuation -- just write!
The story that you have to tell is one that no one else can tell. By definition, therefore, no one can do it better!
And I guarantee that it will make you feel better. Whether it makes you live longer or not depends on who's leaning over your shoulder.
