Amen! I've been saying it for years, if you don't use tactics your enemy understands, and respects, then you're only prolonging the situation. Like the article said, get in, get the job done and get out. You're doing the locals no favors when you fight a PC war.

I very much agree.

Very interesting read. What's nice is that he lays down certain principles & recognizes certain realities, then rationally follows them to an out-of-the-box conclusion. I may not like where he ends up, but the rationalle makes enough sense to warrant further consideration and see if my views should change as a result.
Most people believe they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.

I think a lot of it's driven by domestic politics. They've got to be seen as doing something. This answers many more questions than the ones in the article.

Most of these guys who make a living "studying" islamoterrorist make them into the impossible to handle and a great mystery of their origins and power.
They can be killed from the top to the bottom and who orders and controls them is no real secret:

That was the big thing that jumped out at me, in this. Here he goes, discounting a long list of future threats, and manages to somehow not mention China!?
It seemed a little disingenuous. "Pay no attention to the case that really makes the position I'm trying to take, look bad."

He doesn't list China by name, but he does say this: "If a country has nuclear weapons, you really can't have a large-scale conventional war. You can have military theater, but the fate of either side is not going to be decided purely through conventional weapons."
China, of course, has nuclear weapons.
