You seem pretty hung up on Putin: we're discussing Yuschenko and Tymoshenko.

As for Yanukovich it seems Ukranians in general like criminals then. Sad.

Too bad Russia dropped all charges against Tymoshenko. They must like criminals too, right? The only person I know who stole Russian gas is Putin when he renationalized it into a socialist monopoly.

Are you suggesting she became a millionaire through random luck? Maybe Leia used the force to aquire all that wealth?

Speaking of nationalized Gas, Ukraine (you know the topic of discussion you seem to not like; does it offend you that Ukraine is a crooked nest of socailists?) has nationalized gas, and apparently has never really moved to privatize it.

And yet two millionaires, and prominent government officials who moved into power in no small part due to their personal fortunes happened to be officials over the national gas companies at the time, and profited trhough the sale of gas...

She got rich as head of the UES energy conglomerate when she was not a government official.

Ukraine depends entirely on Russia for gas. President Bush was in the oil business once too. Got a problem with capitalism, tovarisch?

Putin has nationalized Russia's energy resources precisely to use them as weapons of neoimperialist intimidation and blackmail in an insane attempt to condemn Ukraine to the same kind of socialist tyranny he has helped to resurrect in Belarus. Ukraine suffers from Russia's economic warfare and they see the enslavement of the Belarussians next door to neo-Soviet imperialism. They don't want to suffer the same fate.

Hey Tovarich - if it wasn't for the Ukes, you would be goose stepping. Hold your tongue if deference to the millions that stopped Hitler, Russia's allie before they came up with the "GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR" propaganda.

"You call it a "myth," Simon Wisenthal says it's not."

So we see that when you are cornered, you resort to outright lies. Pls document when I said that any Nazi (or Russian) genocide was a "myth".

PS - I see that you conveniently refuse to answer which war you fought in to qualify to be in the VFW.

"We all know that Russia has killed more Jews than Hitler."

Really, is it now your claim that "Russia" which existed until 1917 and reestablished itself in 1991 killed more than 6 million Jews? Could you tell us the nationalities of Dzherzinsky, Mezhinsky, Sudoplatov, Stalin, Beriya, Yagoda, Yezhov, Khrushchev, Kaganovich, etc?

I guess you communists can never get past the "revisionist" history you were indoctrinated to learn.

I don't find any necessity whatsoever to justify my membership in the VFW to a person who supports neo-Nazi movements in Ukraine.

I actually should have typed "Tsaritsin" the original name of Volgograd, vice Tsaritsino, an unfinished Catherine the Great residence outside of Moscow. ;)

That you continue to refuse to condemn the activities of your fellow UNA-UNSO members is disgusting:

"The influence of UNA-UNSO among Yushchenko's supporters is well documented. In June 2004,

"400 members of UNA paraded through Kiev dressed in Nazi-like uniforms and carrying flags with SS-style inscriptions. UNA leader Eduard Kovalenko reportedly called for an end to 'the dominance of Yids in key positions of the government.' The UNA also came out strongly in support of Our Ukraine and Yushchenko."

These youths rely on a rich tradition. Tens of thousands of western Ukrainians collaborated enthusiastically with the Nazis, supplying volunteers for the "Nightingale" Police Battalion and the Ukrainian Waffen SS Division "Galizien." Useless as a fighting force against the Red Army, these volunteers were highly effective in terrorizing Jews, Poles, and "unreliable" Ukrainians. Many were deemed reliable enough to serve as auxiliaries in key extermination camps such as Sobibor and Treblinka. Today the UNA-UNSO members use their grandfathers' insignia. Their former leader Andry Shkil was elected to the Ukrainian parliament in a single ticket election in the Lvov region with the support of Yushchenko's Our Ukraine. A Jewish organization points out that at the time elections were held he had been in jail for a year, accused of organizing mass anti-government riots. Having been elected, however, "Shkil was granted immunity to criminal prosecution."

As John Laughland notes, "Were nutters like this to be politically active in any country other than Ukraine or the Baltic states, there would be instant outcry in the US and British media; but in former Soviet republics, such bogus nationalism is considered anti-Russian and therefore democratic.""

"supports neo-Nazi movements in Ukraine"

Attn: All Freepers

Note that when a post makes irrefutable damage to Herr Putin, Romanov goes to Plan B. This involves absurd slanders and name calling until the Mod is forced to send an otherwise good discussion into Smokey Back Room Oblivion.

Nice try Romie. And I won't waste my breath demanding that you substantiate your outrageous, false and slanderous claim.

And let the record note that you have failed to substantiate your claim to being a US veteran of a foreign war.

Will you condemn the below statement issued by a man you support:

"Under its present leader Andrei Shkil, the UNA-UNSO continues with a provocative political agenda. Efforts to make inroads in the Ukrainian armed forces have been largely unsuccessful. In late 2004 the movement’s leaders issued an appeal to Ukrainian troops serving in Iraq as part of the U.S.-led coalition to >>>>>“‘turn your bayonets against U.S. troops and join the rebels” (UPI, November 12, 2004)." <<<<SPANALOT - WHY DO YOU REFUSE TO CONDEMN THIS STATEMENT?!?!?!

We're all waiting for you to join the US side for a change.

PS - the Ukraine has withdrawn it's troops - one of the first things Yushenko did when he took office, thus fulfilling a campaign promise to "extract" Ukraine from "America's conflict." He's a charlaton.

It seems you're the one with a problem with capitalism, one, we're talking about Ukraine's crooks not Russia's, two, you seem intent on propping up known criminals in Ukraine which makes me theink either you're Ukrainian, or heavily invested in Ukrainian government holdings (which you'd pretty well have to be Ukrainian and connected to do).

There is no way the name sake of you're handle would prop up crooks like Yushchenko and Tymoshenko.
