Whenever I see the words "bogged down" anymore, I question the party affiliation of the person who wrote the article. The dems are communists and the pubs are fools, the dems are much more evil.

Some experts are saying this operation is bogged down. Still, others say that this operation is bogged down.

Anyone who travels outside the US territory, whether to a peaceful nation or not, is advised that they are under the laws of the foreign country when in their country and the US has limited guarantees with regards to protections.

Looks like US citizens still haven't learned the lesson of Katrina: DON'T DEPEND ON GOVERNMENT. It is the biggest bureaucracy in the world, populated by affirmative action hires and cronies of politicians. It will never do anything efficiently because no one wants to make a decision. Better to have paid a taxi to take you to the harbor and paid someone to let you ride with the Italians yesterday. When Italians show they are more organized than we are, you know how pitiful things have become in the US.

Reb,

Do they have English "Yellow Pages" there? Try looking up marinas and yacht clubs and see if you can hire (bribe) someone to sail you to Cyprus. Seriously.

Here are some web links to marinas in Lebanon:

http://www.lamarinajk.com/LaMarinaJK_content.html

http://www.solidere.com/solidere.html

http://www.lebanondivers.com/...these guys might know someone with a boat.

The above are all in Beruit, you might check to see if there are any further north inbetween major cities that might be blockaded.

From the US State Dept. Webpage.

Your Trip Abroad

Prior to your departure, you should register with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate through the State Department's travel registration website. Registration will make your presence and whereabouts known in case it is necessary to contact you in an emergency.

Real time reporting always needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
Of course, the LA Times can find a quagmire anytime and anyplace they choose to do so; especially since the unprinted message is "Bush's fault".
FOX has managed to give one message by mouth and a contrary one in it's (usually misspelled) banner - I have no idea if it is 200 in/2000 out, or thousands into Gaza....I'm betting on the former.

Vacations to Lebanon? I have no sympathy for anyone who vacations in a terrorist hell hole!

Fox News is gets low marks on their reporting about this. They built up a non breaking story about denying entry, it turned out that entry was going forward and then Fox hyped up the original breaking " Israel denies entry".

That's like reporting:

3:00pm: BREAKING !!! Reagan had died from his wounds!
3:00pm to 3:15......follow up conjecture and speculation

3:15pm This just in, Reagan did not die of his wounds, he's doing fine.

3:16pm: Replay....BREAKING !!! Reagan had died from his wounds!
3:16pm to 3:30. Replay conjecture and speculation

If the israeli military did not think the port was secure, why not just say that?
I think John & his producer need to improve.

their frustration and anger mounting because the U.S. government hasn't gotten them out faster.

Beginning to sound like New Orleans. Are you still marooned in Lebanon? They say many are headed north to Syria.

rebel_yell2

Some of the posts to you remind me of the movie "Airplane" - the guy with the contrary TV opinion editorializing: "They bought their tickets, they knew the risks. I say: Let them crash!"

Freepers who make such horrible statements not only show their lack of compassion, but also their ignorance. Thousands of people throughout the world (a lot of them Lebanese who have immigrated from Lebanon) vacation in Lebanon every year. It is not unusual for foreigners to totally fall in love with the country. Last summer I was vacationing in Lebanon, and the Swiss girlfriend of a friend of mine was visiting there with him for the first time. She literally cried on her last night there as she was saying her goodbyes. The bottom line is that Lebanon has been at peace for years, and these events were unexpected. Blaming the people who are stuck there is totally unfair. I pray for your safe return.

Why dont they just fly 3 dozen chinooks over from Iraq, and start flying groups of 30-40 people over to cypress...that way they could pick them up from different(undisclosed) locations in smaller groups. I dont like thre cruise ship idea.

What kind of moron goes to a place like LEBENON for vacation in the first place???

That's almost as bad a choice as Afghanistan.

Perhaps most of these AMERICANS are Lebanese holding dual citizenship.
