The decomissioned Ticonderoga class ships are fine ships by the ROCN's standards, but their electronics are pretty old by the standards of new AEGIS ships & they don't have the MK-41 VLS & use conventional arm launchers. These could be very useful for limited anti-air & anti-sub work if Taiwan could modify them to fit in a 32 cell MK-41 for ESSMs & ASROCs.

I wish Taiwan would buy more Tien Tan AEGIS ships as well. I don't know if they even approved the 4 ships yet. Even if they buy them and more it will take until 2011 for them to be completed. The Ticonderogas could be used until then. Especially if China acts up before they are completed.

Nice language? Are you making a threat? You may laugh now, but you will cry later. "Proverb say."

Don't worry yet, you have MANY friends in the U.S. who will do whatever it takes to keep Mao's China quite strong, yet they will be exposed. As an aside, not all Americans have been in agreement since the so-called success of your alleged "Cultural Revolution."

Yes, you have many supporters [read: traitors] in the U.S., who are quite willing to transfer technology etcetera to you, but make no mistake, if the correct Leadership ever sees through them and communist [lower case] China's intentions since Mao, and seeks to extirpate your atheistic ways from the Planet, you will be erased from the History books. [this is just an opinion and does not necessarily represent the views of The Management, any government or even the views of Micky Mouse or Chucky Cheese]...

Do not be fooled: God is not with you, nor is He with the Godless. Do not threaten the U.S. and please do not make any inference thereto.

To the extent that there are real, pre-planned threats and plans in place, let it be known that you will lose, if you make trouble. Remember that, for the future. The U.S. is Never Alone, even when deep in enemy territory.

It is wise for you to make peace now, and keep the peace. While you are at it, rein in NK and stop making trouble with Japan and your other neighbors, including but not limited to fishing rights, coastal issues, oil and gas R & D issues, etc. (you know the list). Try to be a Good Neighbor, as we all should strive to be.. Intentions are key, and massive military buildups belie bad intentions. Destroying the 800+ missiles directed vs. Taiwan would be a good start, plus shredding and repudiating the tomes of pedantic and overbearing statements RE: Taiwan over the the last couple decades would also be a bonus. Scrapping and destroying the new Kilo subs plus killing all the intel collection programs would also be appreciated gestures. The U.S. is NOT your intelligence collection bonanza also Stay away.. Some people have been watching YOU for a very, very long time and are up to China's game and have been "paying attention". One wonders who became the enemy first? (think about that, carefully and objectively, if that is possible) Get smart. Wise up. Be good. Peace, for now. TTYL.

Punishing Taiwan

Pentagon officials tell us President Bush has been advised to deny new sales of F-16 jets to Taiwan.

The advice is said to have originated from White House National Security Council (NSC) staff, who convinced the president not to approve new F-16 sales to Taiwan to avoid upsetting China. It would also signal disapproval with Taipei for its failure to procure submarines, surveillance aircraft and missile defenses offered for sale since 2001.

The official response we received from NSC spokesman Frederick Jones is that: "We have not to date received a request from the Taiwan Government for F-16s. If we do, it will be considered in keeping with our Taiwan Relations Act commitments."

Other officials tell us what really happened is that Taiwan's chief representative to the United States, David Tawei Lee, was told privately that now is not the time to submit a request for F-16s, to avoid the negative publicity of turning it down. Mr. Lee is close to the acting NSC Asia director, Dennis Wilder.

News of the rejection will be greeted with toasts in Beijing as a great propaganda victory, and another example of how China uses its influence over U.S. academics, policy-makers and intelligence officials to skew U.S. policy. Chinese military officials recently pressed the Bush administration and the Pentagon to halt all arms sales to rival Taiwan.

Taiwan's government confirmed earlier this week that it plans to buy up to 66 new F-16C/D models to replace F-5s. The deal was estimated to be worth $3.1 billion.
Press reports from Taiwan also stated that the Bush administration has rejected a request from Taipei to allow Taiwanese leader Chen Shui-bian to make a transit stop on the U.S. territory of Guam during an upcoming South Pacific visit.

The snub on Guam follows a visit to the island by several Chinese military officials who were given a tour of Guam, a major hub for the U.S. military buildup in Asia, during a recent military exercise.
